hose job problems

I can't get any boost. under load she's hesitating and sometimes backfiring. Any guesses on what it could be? The car idles fine and the motor is purring like a kitten as long as she's under 1lbs of boost.

Check the MAP sensor hose. I think it usually screws up the idle too, but it's easy to see and is known to come off easily and cause lot's of headaches. Good luck.

Sure sounds ignition to me. are you running any ignition amplifier with the stock leading coil?

Yes I'm runnung HI-6 ignition box but it wasn't giving me any problems before I did the hose job. You think I might have to reset it or anything like that?

If you feel comfotable removing the upper intake manifold and throttle body then you could search for both a loose hose and a blown leading coil.

The stock leading coil will not sustain prolonged amplification by a third party amplifier. It will fail, and often it just happens out of the blue.

Personal experience has shown that there will be a bubble forming on the sides of the leading coil (middle coil in the rack) when the coil has gone bad. This is caused by super high levels of heat genrated by the amplifier which expands the 44 gauge coil wire to the point that it will either snap, or loose resistance.
If you are going to use the amplifier I suggest that you buy an upgraded high output coil and not the stock replacement.

I sold my igition amplifier about a year ago after my third coil.
The symtoms were from completly no power to massive hessitation with a strong, strong odor of fuel that would burn your eyes.

The map pressure sensor would cause a rich condition and so would any input sensor if gone bad.

Make sure your fuel pressure regulator hose is on tight because it will default to a rich condition if not.

Reset your computer as well.
