Hood Release Broken, How to Open??

I've read all the search posts, but I wonder if someone has found a new way to get the hood open. Most posts suggest prying the hood open but I worry about messing up the hood or the paint.

Cable pull on inside of cabin is just limp.

any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

This was a recently discussed problem and that gentleman is now a hood release expert! You DO NOT pry the hood open unless you just feel like buying a new hood. This problem has also been discussed many, many times, so the search feature will reveal everything you should know to open and repair your hood.

So rather than me spent a little time searching for your solution - search for "hood latch" and there is nothing "new" to opening a broken cable situation, other than removing the front bumper assembly, which is what the new Expert done.

Good luck

slim jim for hoods?

Has anyone seen a product like the "slim jim" that opens doors but that does the same thing for hood latches? Seems like someone would have tried it by now.

exactly what is wrong with your hood cable?

mine came undone so the coat hanger trick does not work............ i had to take my front bumper off with the hood shut... not exactly fun....... but it CAN be done. i would take pics for you right now but neither of my cameras are at this house....

you can buy me a plane ticket and ill come down there and do it for you... or you can give me a call and ill try help explaining it......... pm me if you want my number

no one believes me that i got the bumper off with the hood shut but each to his own.. all the NE guys know ive done it as they seen my new rig up of a hood latch.. do they believe me? idk but theyve all seen the proof.

Remove the left front wheel.

Remove the fender plastic liners

You should be able to see the hood-cable and give it a pull.

sliding anything metal between your hood and your bumper is just asking for messed up paint.

He indicated in his first post that he knew what the consequences would be if he did that. He was looking for alternatives. I guess you did bump the thread though.
