Hood Pins
Just got my ViS Fuzion carbon fiber hood, Just wondering where you people installed your hood pins on your aftermarket or stock hoods. Did you do it down by the latch area or up higher behind the headlights? Any tips for installing the pins would help greatly too. Thanks in advance guys!

mount and align your hood.
and put your pins where they make it fit better on your car.
ie.. if the fronts sticking up.. Put them inthe front.
If the corners behind the lights and alittle high. Put them on behind your lights..
you'll have to drill out your Hood pivots and just use one of the holes.. like I did.
But you'll still have the latch, two pins and the two bolts..
Make sure you have a drill, some tape and WD40.
tape is for holding the washers and nut together so you can thread the pins.
WD40 is to push the pins through your rubber bump stops.
not as difficult as I thought it would be. Look at my avatar..
I just put that hood on this over the weekend..

I had done mine behind the light with no issues.
Get the small Moroso hood pins. These have a pointy tip which I later filed, sanded and repolished to a smooth rounded tip AFTER the installation was done.
I actually used the pointed tip to "score" the surface of the hood underneath to show me where the hood needed to be drilled. Drilling the hood is a two step process as you need to drill through the inner shell of the hood first.
Once the inner shell is drilled, lower the hood down onto the pointy hood pin lag and push down (with your hand directly above the area you expect the pin to push through) and apply gentle pressure until you feel the pointed tip "telegraph" through the surface of the hood. Your exterior shell of the hood is now scored for you to drill through.
Use tape on the carbon surface and sharp drill bits to drill to prevent from "pulling" the weave as you drill. Starting with a small drill bit and stepping up in size gradually is recommended.
The "catch" of the hod pin assembly (part sitting on the hood) was fastened with either Aluminium or SS rivets.

Nice nice thanks guys, i ordered the SPARCO pins already, but im sure i can use a similar method to what you said slightshot and rx7@rocketship. One question did come up with is did you both drill out the mid section of the rubber stoppers for the actual rod portion of the pin...Thanks again guys (just nervous to drill a hole in my hood, lol)
