My hood latch is not releasing completely when I pop my hood open. I am having to take a screwdriver to release the hood all the way. I am thinking it may just be the spring but im not sure I can walk into the mazda dealership and just get that spring. I am fairly certain that I will have to buy the whole assembly. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it so it will release all the way. (It releases all the way when the hood is not attached.)

 

Try taking out the spring and cleaning all the gunk out of it.
