Hood Damper question

Hi there,

For my FD3S, I am going to install aftermarket FRP vented hood soon, will the TEIN hood damper still work? But I remember these TEIN hood damper is only for stock hood weight. (TEIN instruction manual said)

I know GReddy makes a hood damper for FD3S too, but it is also for stock hood weight, and they don't recommend it for aftermarket hood.
GReddy

Same for Autoexe hood damper, only for stock hood weight.

So what hood damper should FRP or CF hood uses? What brand? Please advice. Thanks.

I use the rotary extreme dampers on my feed hood. It is fiberglass but has the same under structure as my oem hood

I run RE dampers with RE N1 CF hood with no issue, only thing about running damper on FRP and CF hood is that you have to push it harder to get it to come down.

Is Rotary Extreme damper same as RE damper? If so, any link to the website? Many thanks!

But it looks like they're running a little late. Closed "until the first quarter 2014"?

Considering eventually moving to a hood damper for my stock hood...but rather put the money toward a nice Nardi steering wheel first

Cool, thanks.

Anyone used NRG hood damper for their FD3S?

https://www.getnrg.com/products/unde...dampers/hd-400

From the website description, the NRG hood damper can work for both stock or FRP/CF hood, either in full pressure or low pressure.

Our stock aluminum hoods aren't that heavy, so any hood damper for an FD will work. If we were driving something with a heavy steel hood like a MS3, it would be much more of a difference in weight and more of an issue.
You're all good. IIRC, that RE one was made for a stock hood anyway.

^ I have a TEIN hood damper for my stock hood now, but the aftermarket FRP hood is much more lighter than the stock hood. I am afraid the TEIN hood damper will have too much force for the FRP hood, and I have to push it really hard to come down when closing it. But yeah, I agree that our stock hood isn't that heavy.

My CF hood do bent slightly before the struts begin to depress when I pull it down, when I first had it installed I was afraid I would damage the hood so I push the hood down closer by the struts.
