hks twinpower installed

my mechanic just installed my tp for 35.00.these guys are the best!I wish they were a rotary shop.it took him about 30 minutes. After it was installed the idle was down and we adjusted it.The car is smoother and the power difference can be felt.Last night i got the magnaflow cat installed, but i couldnt go wot.I was coming home from the shop this morning and i decided to drop it in 3rd at 50 mph wot. it looked like 13 10 and then 14.I only took 3rd to 75-80mph.Will my m2 ecu stage 3 supply enough fuel ,or is a boost controller now needed?

The M2 stage III runs fairly rich. You should be ok so long as you don't put a mid pipe on your car. You should get a manual boost controler anyway.

Why did your boost go up because of the magnaflow cat instead of the stock cat? what was your boost before?

I think you are in a dangerous area with that boost. I wouldn't run more than 12psi and I wouldn't have a m2 ecu I've heard of a lot of problems with it supporting certain mods/boost.

See my sig. The M2 ECU should be fine with the Twinpower. Mine runs pretty rich.

mecman,do you know the a/f ratios with your set up?I know that the m2 ecu runs rich and i think it will run to 14.7 before fuel cut.I wonder if my m2 ecu and stock injectors can support my current boost ? dont freak out guys ,but it seems like more blown engines happen on a pfcs than m2 or pettit ecu's.I dont have any real data to support this . that is not important to me because there are no tuners within 4-5 of my location.so, getting a pfc was not in my plans. My car is fast enough for me now,But if i lose to a mustang or ls1 that might change. The guys around here said that i said, i was not going to mod! Ya right!

Have you had it in long enough to check your gas mileage? My gas mileage increased from 11-13mpg to 15-17mpg (daily driving). On a road trip I got 19.5mpg. Better gas mileage, a hell of a lot more power; smooth and consistent through the entire rpm range. Well worth the investment.

I would not run more than 13 psi on either a Pettit or M2 ecu. Just my opinion from seeing a few dyno sheets.

Sorry I can't. I've seen a few local guys dyno with the M2 at 13 psi. They put down good numbers but the AFRs were starting to get as lean as I would like them for a regular driver (~11.5).

Also, while this debate will never end, I don't think you should be running more than 13 psi (14 psi tops) on the stock fuel system. The margin-of-error becomes too small for me.

Get a boost controller, keep things at 13 psi, and enjoy your car. It will be quite fast and should last a long time.

how much does the M2 ecu cost? i'm looking at a RE-Amemiya type-B right now and from the looks of the specs it will boost 13 10 12 .85-.95bar before 4500 .75-.85bar above 5500. the m2 sounds to be doing just as good and there is more data in the us of the m2 than the RE-Amemiya. i just trying to put together a safe mid. 300hp car nothing to much for right now.

I agree with Rynberg. !3 psi is still a lot. I would even consider topping it out at 12 or 12.5 psi. Even though your turbos can push more than that, the heat that comes along with it it is not a nice combination with the stock fuel system and I would hate to see you blow your motor.

I run m2 stage3 ECU with my setup (thats including a full 3" MP). 2 weeks ago I installed my HKS TP and WHOOOAAAA! This car is now fast. And I also noticed a dramatic effect on the mileage. I think my car drinks about 15% less fuel then before.

I only run 10psi on the street (lots of twisties overhere). Its already too fast for my gf to enjoy it

On high boost setting I run 13psi, but thats only when I feel incredibly naughty and am alone in the car

And yes, get the BC.

I wish i could find the old post from someone (i think it was a website also, maybe Majik can chime in) But it basicly stated that the stock fuel system was more then able to handle 14Lb's of boost. And the whole "dont pass 80% duty cycle" is a bunch of garbage. I'll do some searching.

cruiser, you are right about the power increase.I cant believe how much smoother the car is with the TP.I notice that i dont have to step on the gas as much to get up to speed. I bought my ecu used.there are some good deals on them now because of all the stand alone units out there.

I also see the new power on the boost gauge. Whereas previously engine had to pull about 10inHg of vacuum to maintain 60mph in 5th gear on level road, it only needs about 12inHg now
