I have a MT10 & X4 at current. In NZ the AEM is about $450 compared to $1000 on the HKS.
I was told directly by the AEM tech dept that they do not like to recommend their own ignition module because it fails too often.

Similar to you I have the Microtech LT16 & X6 with the HKS twin power.

I can't see how the HKS is so expensive in NZ, even with the conversion rate it would only be 544 NZD

Thats true.

It doesnt seem to make sense with what im trying to do. I also think there is no harm either. Idk.

But at least if the unit does fail inside the car, ill know right away, or at least faster than if it were in the engine bay.

John, PM me the particulars of the transaction and the member in question.

Re: the twinpower, I recommend the unit to all customers in the ~350+ rwhp range. Haven't seen one yet, knock on wood. All installed in the engine bay with some foam/rubber between them and the firewall.

I've literally not had a single problem with my HKS twin power, and it netted 10RWHP (dyno'd immediately before and immediately after installing).

I also recently purchased a used Twin Power unit from a member here on this forum. I mounted it to the firewall (insulated) where the cruise control was like most do. However when I powered on the ignition to confirm the red light was coming on I noticed that my unit was making a faint buzzing sound. I have spoken to a few people and determined that this is definitely not normal, yet the car starts up and drives fine.

Has anyone else experienced a buzzing sound from their Twin Power (you can only really hear it whit the motor off and ignition on)?

Buzzing is not normal. I bought mine brand new and have had zero issues with it.

Used electronics=bad idea.

I'm back with a new Twin Power

As you might know i got a refund on the fried used twin power. I took the advise and bought a new twin power which i suggest.I installed the new one somewhat expecting failure like the last one but it operates beautifully. It gets pretty hot after a summer drive but thats normal as Bansai said above. My acceleration on the top end is crisper and smoother. A wonderful product.

I mounted it were the cruise control was. I never used my CC besides it had been useless ever since i installed hand controls on my car.

still have the entire cruise control stuff? I mean all of it, the stuff from the steering wheel to the dash, the dash button, all the wiring for it, the engine throttle linkage? if you've got it complete I would be interested in buying it for the right price.

Good to hear

Looks like you need a brake fluid flush based on the color, and also based on the level you might want to check your brake pad thickness, as well as check for leaks

i still would mount it under the brake master cylinder, that's where i install them and haven't had any issues. i say this because water can get into the bay near the hood edges during car washes and heavy rains.
