HKS Super Sequential Blow Off Valve
A quick question on anyone owning the HKS SSQV.
I put it on and how come it's not as loud as others HKS SSQV???
And how come it doesn't have that HIGH PITCH SOUND like others HKS SSQV on others cars such as Supra, Mr2, Eclipse and etc.???
It sounds just like my stock blow off valve.
I follow the direction completely!! I knew everything was correct!!
Or did I need to do somthing to the HKS blow off valve to make it sound louder and the High pitch sound??
Thanks

The opening is large so the air goes out fast , a good thing .The smaller opening valves will put out a high pitch sound but the air relieves slower . Do you want performance or a loud sound ?

I want loud and performance. Or I can only get one. I seen a screw on the back of the HKS Blow off valve..
So is that screw suppose to make the sound louder or lower???
I don't know because I haven't have time to do anything to it ever since I put it on this afternoon.
Or did I need new hoses or something to make it a high pitch sound. thanks.

I think it was a waste of money. Or I think I didn't hook up something right!!!!

I bought my car with the HKS sequential dump valve already fitted and mine's not that loud either. However, it looks like the stock dump valve is still working and is still connected to the air box...hmmm methinks it's time to tug that stock **** out and see what happens. No sense having two dump valves right?

I've had them on both an FD and SW20, and it's definitely A LOT louder on an SW20. I always thought it was the location that changed the volume. In the SW20 its right behind you, and you dont have hood insulation to muffle the sound.
It's just always what I thought... I'm pretty sure you hooked it up right. To make it sound like what u want try adjusting it, vary boost levels, play with the throttle, and maybe you can get the sound you want... but the volume will never match an SW20.
In the end I still think you should be happy you have one of the best BOVs out there for function... and sound.

No it's not Turbo'd
From what I've read and, I own a SSQ as well, just haven't installed it yet... the adjustment controlls the attack and release of the valve, if you play with it you might find a spot where it's not as loud as you'd want it but louder than it tis now... since duboisr is right, the more sound the less well the valve is venting air, kind of like a teapot.. the higher the pressure the louder the sound...
Me Personally I'm going to remove the stock stuff, and I'm putting my BOV, Right before or right after the IC, since that's one of the places before the IC or before the Throttle body that pressure starts building, and then moves back toward the Turbos... why not vent at the point of pressure...??

i heard the BEST place to put them is on the elbow. Some people will argue that youre venting air thats already been cooled by the IC, but that is the exact point of pressure, right before the TB butterflies.
matter of fact i did have an idea one day...I removed my AWS not too long ago, and the hole there could very easily be used to put a stock BOV up there. and since im running NS, i could use one of the valves on the elbow, and keep one on the y-pipe. That way i get venting on both sides j/ a thought

The bolt on the back of the HKS bov shouldn't be touched and was set by HKS before it was shipped out of their company.
HKS sells inserts to replace the stock insert to change the noise.
I always thought my HKS bov was extremely loud and I love the way it sounds. It seems like you really only care about the noise, just get rid of the HKS bov and buy yourself the POS A'pexi bov.

Yeah, try closing off the 2 BOV holes and weld the HKS BOV on the elbow or somewhere where you would like it. Then you will get what your looking for, or listening for in that case I think the elbow is the best place for the BOV though since its where the compression really is and would also have better response.

I used the HKS valve with my stock turbo's for almost 3 year's. You don't have to touch the screw on the back of it to make it loud. It should be obscenely loud with the factory screw setting.
If your turbo(s) are working, and the bov is installed on the right bung, it should be 10 times louder then the stock one. If you need a video of what it should sound like, pm me.

Sorry the pic is so small but the "elbow" is the thing the blue arrow is pointing at. You should really know these things though since you own an FD. Oh and someone made the comment of welding your bov to the elbow, well unless you are running the GReddy elbow you cant really do that since your stock elbow is plastic. Good luck.
