Which to choose?

My supplier has the Greddy on backorder, but I can get the SSQV Thursday, I want to get a BOV asap. I dont know which is better....

Just asking for some experience/opinions on the BOV's....

I ran the stock BOV with stock twins @15lbs with no problems at all. You don't need to replace it for twins.

 

ssqv's are famous for being the best sounding bov (though thats a pretty subjective thing,) however even though there are some differences between bovs, the biggest diff is the sound, so it will depend on which ever you think is best. testing sounds is a bit hard tho :P

 

I've went through 2 sets of stock BOV's/CRV''s the connection is all correct, but the springs in the stock ones keep going to ****. Maybe just bad luck with stock BOV's for me.

you can change out the fittings in the HKS to get differn't sounds too.

 

I had the greddy type s, it wasn't as loud but you can hear it. I now have the hks and it's a loud WHOOSH sound, I have another fitting that doesn't have the triangular center piece. The hks is a pull type 2 stage bov, where it only opens the small valve for little boost and opens up both vavles for more boost. Where the greddy is one big chamber and is a push type.

I am just worried that its going to go to ****. I keep eating up stock BOV's, and now I am going aftermarket, it doesn't make any sense that my engine should be ruining my BOV's.

On the HKS, i do like the fact that you can change out the fittings, that sounds badass...

 

If you don't get it welded to a hard pipe and you use a adapter kit it will not be loud at all. The stock one should work just fine. How are you going through BOVs....whats wrong with it?

 

What does it matter what it sounds like? Real question: Is it reliable and will it be adequate for your boost level.

 

Well my bov's were leaking at 5psi (when i say BOV's I mean CRV/BOV) therefore, I couldn't hold anything over 6.5psi on my secondary turbo. Well I threw in another set of stock bov/crv's and they worked, for about 6 hard runs down the street, then they gave out just like the others. When they work, my pattern is 12-8-12, and when they dont, my pattern is 14-5-6.

Looks like it is just bad luck for me with the stock BOV's, I dont know why they would be going out like that. I am hoping the aftermarket one will solve the problems. I hear good things about just about every aftermarket BOV. I prefer the Greddy or the HKS.
