HKS SSQV BOV question

Ok, So i'm looking to get an HKS SSQV bov, however nothing is really clear about them.

Where would it be mounted? Are they bolt on or is welding required? Even if I buy the vehicle specific one for the FD, does it still need to be mounted?

What do I need to install one? I have Greddy IC piping on a SMIC

If you buy one that is made for welding in, then you have to weld it. If you buy one that is made to attach to a hose then you take out the stock BOV's and plumb their pipes into the SSQV.

I've currently got mine connected with a hose. Certain kits include the flange with a hose mount, but they cost a little extra from what I've seen.

the kit includes an adapter which plugs into the 90" elbow off the Y-pipe connector right at the split from primary to secondary turbos. the flange is universal and comes in either steel or aluminum depending on what type of IC pipes you have for the front mount.

Buy the Rx-7 specific kit and it will connect to the factory air bypass valve hose. No welding is required unless you are single turbo. The SSQV is much bulkier than the factory valve.

I'm having a problem finding the specific kit, what's the only difference between the universal and specific? Is it just the flange? Can't I just buy that separate?

I have this wierd HKS attachment coming from a hose that would be attached to the stock intake box, but since I have HKS filters it eliminated the box, but I'm still running the stock intake pipes.

I'm getting the HKS RS pipes though so I'll take some pictures now and after I get the RS pipes. It's sort of wierd though, I haven't seen anybody have this in their engine bay.

I have both the HKS RS intake pipes with the HKS SSQV FD specific that comes off the y-pipe.

It fits fine.

this is kind of how it works, except that pic shows a 2nd gen configuration. the ssqv bolts to the cast piece on the bottom which allows a factory hose to connect. otherwise you will have to weld the flange on to piping like this:

I wont see my car til like friday/weekend.

I could take pics then.

But its very straight foward man. You cant really mess up. As long as you buy the FD specific BOV kit, you will know once you open the box and see all the pieces.

The HKS RS intake even comes with a bracket to hold the BOV in place to make the installation very neat.
