HKS RS Intake Install- need some help

ok, I decided to install my intake finally. I got it directly imported from japan and the page is about faded to hell so I am doing it on my own. Couple of questions about it though. I did my search first like a good little boy and only came up with super mega flows and no RS.
I have the two hard pipes and know to connect the ends to the two intake pipes. The hard pipes have two small connectors at the top of each one. I tossed the vent tube that was just hanging from the air box and am now left with 4 hoses.
1.) BOV hose
2.) CRV hose
3.) Airpump Hose
4.) Hose comming from the UIM.
I know that I need to use a seperate breather for the Airpump so that leaves me with two connections and 3 hoses. I am going to be doing Daimans head shield for this set up so I know where to put the airpump breather.
My question is where to put the other 3 hoses.
Thanks,
Neal

Usually the connections on the intake are for the BOV and CRV. However, you can use them really as you see fit. You could vent the BOV, and then use the connections for the CRV and the Airpump Relief hose (the one coming fron the LIM).

On my old intake, I had the dual intake from greddy.

I let the crv and bov vent to the atmosphere. Had the airpump connected to it while I still had an airpump. Thats all you gota do, its a real simple intall mang. Just put it on there, you cant mess this install up, just maybe make it look sloppy. I tucked the crv and bov lines underneath the intake so they werent visible.

well, Im not quite sure what the #4 hose is and where it pops on. Should I just leave the CRV and BOV tubes dangling and install the other two onto the intakes?

yea, #4 tube is supposed to connect to your air pump if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure that tube runs to the catylac converter to help with emissions, may be mistaken. I'll take a look at my new 7 real quick, this one is still sequential and has the airpump.. brb

tube 3 and 4 were both seperatly connected to the airbox.

also when I took the box off I noticed that the connecter in the first picture was just sitting there and not plugged into anything. It seems to be electrical so any help on that one would be helpful as well.

ok i just had a lok at mine

bov goes to the bottom intake pipe.
airpump goes to that duct infront but my top intake has a pipe that is blocked off so i will plug that into there.
my pipe going off the UIM vents into the atmosphere infront of the filters, that pipe also has that small HKS plastic box on it (whats this)

Actually i dont know if its my CRV or BOV thats plugged in. I have a Blitz bov so maybe its my CRV and my BOV pipe has been blocked off.

i bought the car like this.

ok, so I should do the airpump and crv lines for the intake and just vent the BOV and #4 (the one comming from behind the uim). Should I just leave the bov dangling or is there a better way to mount it?

I attached a photo with the upper intake hose left off. Vrmmm, I found it odd that the top pieces connector was facing towards the wheel of the car and not into the engine bay...do j-spec cars have the airpump?

su_maverick,

Read my original reply.

The #4 hose is the Airpump Relief hose. It's the MOO hose that everyone refers to. You can either plug the 2 connections on your intake using the BOV and CRV (which is what they are there for), or you can vent the the BOV and then plug in the CRV and the Airpump Relief hose (to help muffle the sound). Since you said you will be making the heat shield which will have the hole for the Airpump Air source line, I'm just excluding that.

Both the CRV and Airpump Relieft hose make some annoying noises when vented which is why I suggested those two. It doens't really matter. You can have all of those hoses vented and just plug up the holes on the intake if you like.

Thanks majik. Sorry but Im a lttle protective of my car so I sometimes repeat myself. Vrmmm, that is exactly what mine looks like. I didnt mean that the openint points to the wheel, I just tought it wierd that the connecter was on the outside and not the inside where it would be easier to attach one of the hoses.

yeah i know what yoru talking about it is kinda weird, ive seen a few variations of ours!!! there is indeed one version with an opening close to where my hoses go over the top intake. Its not such ab ig deal.. Can i ask what kinda shield are you going to use? i want to get rid of that airduct but i think it would suck in hot air.

Here are a few pictures of my old setup:

I have the Apexi BOV, so you see that hole is plugged. The other one has the CRV plugged into it. Since it's not the RS Intake, I have a plug for the airpump but you can ignore that.

ok, I got them installed and need to go get a breather for my air pump and im done. I checked out damians head shield and it wont work with a side by side like the HKS. I am either going to have to bastardize his design or make a sort of ram air shroud for the filters.

IMO, I wouldn't worry about a heat shield. The few degrees you save won't matter after it comes out the turbos anyway.

I bought this intake about a month ago for my rotary extreme v-mount kit... pictures are in this thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/rotary-extreme-v-mount-installed-329342/ I hope this helps.

Also, I ended up buying a single turbo kit so I am going to be parting with this intake kit. If anyone wants to buy it PM me or e-mail me at grandmastabdc@hotmail.com It has less than 50 miles on it.
