HKS Megaflow - ged rid of? or modify?

Bought the car a couple of months ago and it came with the HKS Megaflow intake. I do not like this setup as the pods are in the engine bay and are sucking in hot air.

What are my options in getting cold air? I was thinking about getting a stock airbox and modding to fit the HKS - does this work? Or would it be better to do some aluminum sheet work? I'd rather not spend the cash on a competely new intake system and I do like the fitment and shape of the HKS intake pipes.

Thanks,

M

HKS is crap.

The HKS megaflow is a pure piece of junk. The filtration is extrêmely poor. See inside of your intake pipe and
you will find a ton of dust . Get rid of this crap and get
A M2 cold intake or a apexi power intake.

Do this ASAP!!!!!

I would get the apexi power intake and fabricate a heat shield. It's a WAY better unit than the HKS intake.

Heat shield - sounds like a great idea

And yeah, I took a look at the inside of the intake pipes and it looks like there is a little "sponge dust" covering the insides - so it looks like I'm gonna get me some K&N cones.

Are there any templates or good pictures of a functioning air intake heat shield? Possible one that will duct in fresh air?

Oh yeah, what size is the air intake opening. I'm probably gonna measure tonight, but if I could locate some sort of standard size K&N, I'm gonna go with that.

Thanks,

M

Right

the Apex because it is proven the best filter out there. best filtration and best flowing out of anything else on the market. M2 is good because it sucks in cooler (relitively) air, and includes K&N filters, which are proven to be up there with the Apex filters in terms flow and filtration.

the HKS and RE Amemiya (similar to the HKS intake) are the worst intakes available for the the FD, IMO. you are better off with the stock one.

just my .02

I totaly agree with you 2 cents!!!!!!!!!!!!

I plan on getting a M2 intake when I'm done installing the dp. I have heard great things about them.
