hks hiper carbon ti?

hey im not too familiar w/ this exhaust, but it def got my interest...but im curious as to why so many ppl have been selling it... anythin i should be aware of?

to my understanding, it's a very good free-flowing (very little restriction) exhaust, that's on the louder side, correct?

just wanna get the 411 be4 i make a decision to buy

thanx

Its kinda loud, but I've been using a silencer, and no problems with the cops yet.... And it still sounds good.

Yea its really good quality, I've had no problems with it, yet I too would consider selling it for something milder looking... maybe thats what some ppl are thinking.

I have an HKS carbon ti on my FD along with DP and stock main cat(interior welds ground flush on both ends of main cat) Power FC and modified stock air box. At 10 psi it seriously rips pretty good and sounds wicked.

I picked up this exhaust hesitantly not thinking a guy my age(38) should have a tip that large at the end of the exhaust. Really, in my opinion, it is sort of stupid looking from the back of the car when looking straight down the pipe as that the tip is much larger than the completely visible interior pipe. Sure I know that's so you can put in the silencer, but why would you want to buy a high performance cat back and then reduce the performance with the silencer? My deciding factors to buy were that it's fairly light, the construction is excellent, the price wasn't bad, and if I didn't like it I could take it off and sell it.

The volume isn't bad, but gets a bit of a drone at certain rpms. That's not a problem though because all you have to do is shift into a different gear if you like quiet cruising. When you get on it there's a fantastic growl that emits from the HKS carbon ti.

Well, long story short, it's still on my car after several months, I like it now and very much enjoy my FD looking a bit more riced out.

I haven't acturally heard one.. but I heard that they are very loud.. especially with full exhaust..

I have N1 dual and its LOUD!!! I had to put a silencers in.. with cat, it was nice.. but now, even with the silencers, LOUD!!! I'm 30 and I sure don't want to get pulled over for something stupid as noise violatioin..

I heard that N1 dual and HKS Ti is about the same in volume..

If you keep the stock Cat, almost all the exhaust out there should be O.K..

Hope this helps..

I have heard this system with the main cats and with a full exhaust. HUGE DIFFERENCE!! There is no way I would be able to tolerate the noise that things makes with a full open exhaust. I think that it's louder than the Apex'i N1 system. I still love the Racing Beat dual tip. It has no flow problems, looks stock, is very quiet, and still has a beautifully mean growl at WOT. Just my .02, take it for what you will. Laterz.

Wack *** body kit's and lame big muffler's attached to 1/25 inch piping is "riced out".
An HKS exhaust on an FD is far from "riced out". Really far.

The tip is HUGE. That's just one of the things about the HKS Ti Carbon catback. I don't know why they made that tip so big. Some people like it though.

Are you sure about this?? did he have mp?? Its just hard to believe.. I'm just not fan of HKS exhausts.. Dragger made less power than other exhausts.. I have acturally seen this comparison.. on a same car..

I'm not sure about the Ti.. but less noise.. That's completely opposite from what everyone has told me..

rotoboy..thanx 4 the $0.02...i appreciate it =). im practically sold hehe

i am a big fan of HKS...i think if u buy their rite stuff...it kicks *** (HKS BOV, HKS hiper exhaust, HKS hiper racing exhaust...OMG THAT THING IS INCREDIBLE) etc. u get my drift.

but u know herblenny, the original dragger is known to be restrictive. i remember when we had that lil talk bout the dragger, i got all paranoid, and started askin around...and everyone (but me) seemed to b like oh yea OF COURSE the super dragger is restrictive...it's one of the more restrictive free flow exhausts... (which i was told was good in my case, cuz if i had somethin more freeflow, id prob spike boost too much and say byebye to my apex seals..cuz of the DP/MD combo)

as for the hiper...the few ppl i talked to told me it's a really high flow exhaust...up there w/ the apexi and rsr. so i dunno. guess some of HKS' stuff rocks, and some of it is... well... stuff lol

PS...herblenny...go sleep. lol

my friend had a hks hiper exhaust on his wrx and it was pretty mean. I was wondering does the ti carbon one sound louder than the regular hiper one or are they the same.

Here's how it looks from the back.

photo of tip from back

Here's how it sounds from the inside with down pipe, stock main cat(interior welds ground flush). This video is through my digital camera with a low quality microphone, but at least something to hear.

sound of HKS carbon ti

This is just coming from the same cop hater who got pulled over for a noise violation.

Anyways, this exhaust is PRETTY loud... imo, it doesn't sound good at all. If you want a decent exhaust that doesn't have an exaggerated tip, get the PFS or RB Dual cat-back. Both kits flow well, expecially the PFS.

While it is pretty loud, I've had louder. Herblenny purchased my N1 Duals, and when I used it with the silencers they were still loud. I now use the CF Ti and I havent been pulled over with my car, I run it with silencers and it sounds pretty good to me.... but then again thats all subjective.
The CF-Ti does not even come close to N1 duals in volume.
I've heard an RB dual (a local friend of mine has it on his FD), they sound pretty good - its mild, but at WOT its got a nice tone to it - but from talking with FDNewbie he wants something loud so RB isnt the way to go.

walien, yea i read about/heard/saw the Rb and PFS...nice, but not my style. i dont like dual tip (personal preference). guess i got used to the 3" + tip on my superdragger (it grows on u...u know? hehe)

as nameless said, i want somethin a lil on the loud side. dont like the quiet thing goin w/ the 7.... but at the same time i dont want a str8 up deafening fartcan exhaust like the greddy one i heard the other day.. (not sure which one it was) but it was VERY loud and just obnoxious (ive never heard the n1 duals). i like the 7 havin a deep and noticeable sound...esp. a throaty sound when ur just kickin it...=)

oh and fuji & greg...thanx 4 the pics & video/soundclip...i appreciate it

actually i was surprised how much feedback i got on this thread...thanx guys. good stuff

......now if i could only find someone to buy my c west front & rear and mazdaspeed skirts lol......

all of the greddy exhausts are very quiet, even with a midpipe, greddy muffles there exhausts pretty well, they are made to conform to the db limit, pretty much any canister exhaust with a midpipe is going to be very loud.....i would suggest...blitz nurspec.apex gt spec.apex n1 duel or any of the jic exhausts all are very loud with a midpipe, hope this helps.

i have one its pretty loud but its a nice loud. i get looks everywhere I go and I love it. I am running a HKS DP also. When I get my resonated MP installed i think it will lower the sound a bit. if your worried about your car being too lound this CB isnt for you.
