Hissing sound when AC is on. Never go to Jeff Auto body in Annapolis.

What a horrible experience with Jeff Auto body in Annapolis. My car get hit by some jerk I bring it to get it fixed. It takes twice as long as they estimated and some. Horrible buffing job on the roof mess up the seat belt to install.

Worst of all the AC is now making a hissing sound when I turn it and no AC comes out. He sais its the freon is low. but why would it hiss. I think hes full of it. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

I have to talk this guy tommorrow any help would be appreciated.

To my knowledge the compressor doesnt turn on when there is no freon in the system so it wouldnt be your compressor if its "low on freon". Intake or airpump hose loose?

It might actually be low on freon...Mine used to make that noise before I got it recharged...Im not positive that will fix it though. Just throwing out ideas.

For you autobody work did you go through your car insurance provider or did you go out of pocket? If you went the insurance route you can complain through them and maybe get a bring back. However if you paid cash...ah well, buffing ain't that hard. GL on yer AC.

My AC was low and would make a strange hissing/gurgling sound(almost like it was coming from behind glove compartment) when i turned it on. Didn't get cold air out.

When it was recharged, they only recovered about 1.5 ounces of the R12 in it(that was all that was left). Filled it back up, no hissing, cold air.

same thing for me except i havent tried to recharge it yet. It was cold for about 10 min then it just stoped, sounds like the hissing is coming from behind the glove box as well.

it sounds like we all have the same problem... but some people keep the cold air... i wonder if its a faulty bypass valve or faulty evaporator.

Possibly a bad expansion valve

Was it paid through insurance or yourself? Cuz depending if it's a recommended insurance body shop or not, insurance can guaratnee their work. Obviously, I would make a very solid and strong complaint to NEVER take it back to that place, as if they did bad once, don't expect it any better the 2nd time. If you have the time, I'd take it to Mr. Spoiler here in Northern VA. He'll have her looking PERFECT and fix any problems you may have. He's worked on HUNDREDS of RX-7s for YEARS, esp. since Bret, Mitch, and PFS are all right next to him.

it gets worse

Then I found the back bumper there a 2 inch peace broken off and the gas hood that was repaired doesn't open. He didn't even test to see if it worked. How sad.

Tommorrow I'm driving up to Toronto for the week and who knows what else they broke.

Anybody know any good shops in Toronto that I could take it to get it looked at?

Its got the r12 AC.

What a horrible experience. It now been 3 weeks that hes had the car for a one panel of repair. Only good part of this is its being covered by the insurance of the person who hit me.
