highflow cat Q, wastegate Q, heat wrap Q

first off thanks for the help,
so i moved to california and with the emissions laws its hard for me to keep the fd so ive researched all that but

<<will i melt a high flow cat and if so how fast?
<<if i port my wastegate will my manifold crack?

also i have a lot of underhood heat issues, so

<<will wrapping my downpipe or manifold with heat wrap crack the manifold? what shouldnt i wrap?

my mods are a street port, a full exhaust, and an m2 stage 3 ecu.

thankyou again

1.you will not melt a high flow cat. There are cats that even have an adapter for your airpump hose. But thats not 100% necessary. The airflow from the air pump may increase the life of the cat, but its mainly there to help with emissions.
2.a lot of people port their wastegate on the stock turbos, your manifold should not crack. Just make sure you do it right. Do a search there are a lot of threads on it and how to do it.
3.if you wrap your dp it will not only help your exhaust flow, but it will help decrease your under the hood temps. I wraped mine and it turned out fine. I have heard that wraping may decrease the life of your dp/ mp (which ever you wrap) but have not personaly seen any proof.

if you wrap mild steel, it will corrode. not sure how stainless would cope.

the stock cat is actually fairly good. i have notice the high flow cats have larger inlets/outlest but the internal surface area is much smaller. i would reccomend keeping the stock cat and possibly changing the inlet/outlet to 3inch dia

pulling and replacing turbos takes roughly 3 hours from start to finish atleast thats how long it took me to do it twice.

Pretty easy operation once you get all the darn heat sheilds off.

If you're concerned about heat, you can have your downpipe both ceramic coated (I used Jet Hot) and also wrapped with fiberglass (I used Thermotec). A stainless steel downpipe should be more resiliant to corrosion than mild steel. Assuming you're going to buy a new downpipe, try to avoid the cheapo ebay ones, the fitment is pretty poor and you'll spend lots of time modding and trimming things to get them to fit.
