high intake temp...dangerous?

high intake temp...dangerous?
i know colder is better, but i'm worried if too high is bad, especially under WOT. so after traffic and my PFC is showing 60 C or even 70 C would it do any damage to WOT?

Wow, that is hot. You do increase your chances of detonation when the intake temps are high, but the same could be said of cold temps with bad fuel maps.
My temps are usually in the high 30s when cruising, and got up to 50C or so during dyno tuning. 60 or 70 on the street sounds hot. Perhaps it is time to invest in an IC.

i remember reading about increased detonation...thanks for the confirmation...
After some spirited driving it reads about mid 40 C, but after I park for a drink or smoke and get back on the road it reads 60, 70 and has a hard time going down...damn heatsoaked...
IC will be my next purchase...

Doesn't the PFC measure UIM temp not necessarily the air intake temp? I think I read this somewhere and it raised some concern....I'll see if I can find that again.

You're right, ttpowerd. And apparently the sensor is extremely slow to respond, so your true temps may be lower than that after you're moving again.
I have a FMIC and I'll still see 60's after I've parked the car on a hot day, or even if sitting still idling.

two things;
1. the haltech air temp responds much much faster than the fd/pfc
2. i have heard that the higher the intake air temps, the more likely the chance of detonation, in fact rice racing mentions his ari intake temps in every other post, its my understanding that anything above 50-55c needs a richer mixture to keep from detonating
