high idle!! aahh!!

I removed my upper intake manifold and just got it back on today. The car started up fine and there is no difference in driving it than before..... except for it idles around 1500..2000. Anyone know what might be causing this.... mixed up connectors? Please help I hate to drive my car with this high idle.

Thanks,
Chris

From my limited knowledge, I think it might be a gasket leak on your manifold. Good luck, let me know how it goes. Any headway on the boost problem yet?

Thanks for the reply, yeah that sounds like it could be the prob. No headway on the boost problem, I traced almost all of the lines comming from the solenoids... no luck. The wastegate & turbo pre-control electrical connectors were reversed though and a check valve was backwards.... so I fixed those two things. Put it all back together and still no boost.

Let me guess, did you clean the manifold w/ carb cleaner? If so, great idea! It'll make the car smoother, idle better and more responsive.

When you clean up the carbon build up, the car will idle higher for about 50-150 miles. The computer will adjust the idle accordingly with some driving.

If you didn't clean the manifold and the idle has jumped up 800 RPM, check the vac hoses in front and under the manifold. There is a small black vac box with a few vac hoses around it. Make sure all are connected. There is one hose that just points down into the engine and doesn't connect to anything. Let us know if the situation improves with some driving.

Check your dashpot, too. That happened to a guy I know. His idle was sometimes high, and it was his dashpot. It was sticking and wasn't letting the throttle sit all the way down.
