High idle

I idle around 1k give or take a couple hundred, but usually on the higher side. I vaccum 17-18 always at idle. Any ideas what causes the higher idle? I'm running DP, CB, CAI, and the AC is disconnected (by previous owner).

i have this exact same problem, mines idles about 1300 rpm when warmed up. i have found that it is usually a leak in the intake system, problally in one of the gasgets near the butterflies. it might also be due to the DP, CB, CAI which would let the engine breather easier. let me know if you ever solve this problem.

there is a vac hose on the front side and under the manifold. if it has popped, it will cause the car to idle between 1000-1300 rpm. you will hear a light hissing noise. if attached to a small (anout 1/2 inch) white plastic "canister" type thing. (yeah, i don;t know what it is, at its late, so my technical mind is not up to par)

I'll give you an idea of what to check for before you get flamed to death. (I was flamed for not knowing how to adjust your idle.) But anyways, first of all, you should not have to adjust your idle. But if you do, there probably is a vacuum leak someone past the TB, or vac. hose popped off. Start by spraying some carb cleaner around the the engine compartment, anywhere to surfaces needs a gasket. If you're like me, and did'nt find anything at all, you probably have a lower intake manifold gasket that is bad. That is not good. If your motor is tired, need new turbos, now is the time to do it! To get to the lower manifold, the turbos have to come off. One of my friends on here, says that once you get the turbos, and manfold off, you might as well have just taken out the engine. Anyway you look at it, its going to cost some $$. If you drive the car like me (about 1k a year.) you might want to open the diagnostic box on the drivers side fire wall. Making shure the car is competely warmed up, with the fans not on. put a jumper wire from ten to grnd. Beneath the TB elbo, there should be two 10mm nuts. Between the two, there is a screw. Take a standard screw driver and turn it in, until the idle comes down to 850rpm. If you car is like mine, and the screw is turned in all the way, there is a little screw/nut combo on the side of the tb, you can back out to adjust the idle. I did all this to my car and it idles great now. Just keep in mind that this is just a temporary fix, and you should get the gasket fixed as soon as you can. Hope this helps, and e-mail me if you have an questions, CJ
