Hi temp paint for DP

Is there a high temp paint that will last on a downpipe. I saw some paints claiming 1800 degrees and, from other info on this forum, EGT can run up to 800 Celsius. 800 Celsius should translate into 1472 F (800 x 9 / 5 + 32).

Will this paint last or am I just gonna get a smelly and smokey engine bay?

And yes, I've heard about jet-coating - but I like to DIY as much as possible.

I would never consider painting a DP, you will just end up with a smoky, smelly mess.. I would almost bet on it. The DP just gets far too hot for paint to withstand for any length of time, Jet Hot Coat is really the only option for a coating that will not only last.. but also reduce the underhood temps.

I really doubt that coating-in-a-can will do anything or last.

I saw a post where a DP could be coated for $45. This would be much better than trying to paint it. They had several colors.

Send it to Jet hot for their 2000 degree coating.

The $45 was from a pro coating company down in Tampa, FL. They use a product from www.techlinecoatings.com and they have many dealers throughout the US.

I used some kigh temp ceramic stuff from autozone. I got the highest temp one they had. I also wrapped the dp with some of that heat wrap. It held up pretty well but last time I ahd the dp off I decided to just send it to jethot. Seams cooler under the trans tunnel now.
