i'm not familiar with the american market on hi-flow cats, but what do people prefer? is there any particular cat that stands out from all the brands that are available?

I've done some reading (as hf cat will be my next mod) and most people seem to prefer the Bonez one. Good quality good flow.

does it make car gain any additional boost ( I would think because it's less restrictive than stock cat but just want to hear from someone that know for sure).

Magnaflow just came out with a direct fit catalytic converter. I believe it is supposed to be better flow than the oem unit and it is oem diameter pipe. I saw one on EBAY for about $80.00 shipped.

Other than what Ive mentioned, I dont know anything else about it. Perhaps someone on the forum has tried one and has performance info.

Oh yea thats a good point, when buying a high flow cat you need to get one that can withstand the higher temperatures of rotary exhaust.

Even the Hi-flow cats tend to offer enough restriction that creep isn't an issue. Would you see a performance gain over an old stocker? Yes. But I think it would more likely show up as quicker spooling/response, better gas mileage, longer turbo life, lower operating and underhood temps and cleaner emissions.

+1 for Bonez.

I believe RX7store's cat midpipes use the magnaflow converter. I don't believe to many people have complained about theirs.

I have been running a Bonez for close to one year now and just passed smog with ease last week. From what I read, the Bonez cat is made for the rotary engine which has been known to distroy aftermarket cats quickly.

Yes. You can search the West forum for more info. It seems they became CARB legal around 2000 or so.

You don't need a carb number for hi-flow cats on non OBD-II cars.
