With good traction on slicks and a high rpm launch, the pinion gear tries to climb the ring gear upward because it can't turn the tires immediately and translate the power into motion. The result is a huge amount of stress on the nose of the differential, because the PPF keeps that from happening.
You are right that eventually something has to give. Do enough drag launches with enough power and you'll eventually find the weakest link in the drivetrain the hard way.

i'd still like to know who thought up the ppf

ive done that same thing to two of them
my case cracked 100% all the way around and like fell apart, it was funny
one was on the street with 285 potenzas just ******* around, the other at the track with et streets...luckly the case didnt break at the track, just the spyder gears stripped out
that was within a span of 2 weeks too lol
piccked up a new TII diff, well see how that holds next season

Mine happended because the ring gear was not properly torqued to the diff. I am still dealing with my mechanic who installed it. I am looking for a full refund. It wasn't done by MZM, it was done by a local shop in San Antonio.
