Ah yes. Use great examples like: "...your mom could be the ***** that works the street corner, but she still works and she would still be your mom" and "...pull some sense out of your *** since there's obviously none in your head." That makes you sound more convincing.
^That at the time at 19, or even now at 20 years old, I know everything about cars (including Rotaries).
/sarcasm
I've just seen some scary things over on 'them there Rx8 forums. I guess it's silly to care TOO much of who else your type of car though.

Sure, I'd like to see a re-born RX-7. I'd buy one if it had the sexy looks of the FD. Quite honestly, it really is the looks that made me fall in love. I can do without the low reliability issues. The old RX-7s would still hold a place in people's hearts and become classics just as the old Corvette Stingrays, and Ford Mustangs have held up over the years as much covetted originals. I would expect the New RX7s to be in the $50K range. If you want a cheap RX7, buy mine, but be sure to also purchase a shop manual and a set of tools
Yeah, the next one will probably be a little shitbox after Mazdas marketing people read the threads on the "enthusiast" forums and determine that there's no way their demographic will have north of $40,000 for a new car.

Mazda is 33.33% owned and controlled by Ford; I was mistake a number of Ford personnel have bein in the CEO position, the last Mark Fields took the position in 2000. In 2004 Mr. Hisakazu Imaki was named CEO, Imaki is a long term Mazda man starting at Toyo Koyo (original name of Mazda, Mazda was the product name then) as a engineer.
Subaru the car division of Fuji heavy Industries is now 100% Japanese with Toyota buying GM's 20% stake in FHI (20% did not control and remember GM is broke), Now Subaru has American origins; some California marketing guys formed at company: Subaru of America to sell a AWD car, they got it designed and then commissioned FHI to build them, FHI later bought out Subaru.. the rest is history.

They did what was best for the design of the car for it to make a statement, not because they were trying to increase sales. That is what Mazda should do, now after hearing and reading about the 3 rotor GT RX-8, I am extremely curious to see where this is going to go. If they bring the 20B to the states and make it more available we all know what that means. Conversion time. Might **** off Dave Hayes though.
We will see.
We will see.
I would love to see the RX7 make a comeback. New engineering goodies, light weight, and blazing performance are the stuff I dream of. Mazda's main problem with the FD was price. At $35 - 40K (which I plunked down in 1994, in today's dollars that would be $60-80K), only a few could actually afford the car. See why it died? Mazda would have to go back to its roots to offer more of a selection - entry level, base touring, and ripping performance model.
I love my FD and bought it new in 1994. Have thought several times about getting rid of it for something else but can't part with it because to me, it just exudes the look and feel of what a true sports car should be. However, a new FD with 400 HP, new technical goodies, and an updated but classic look of the FD would have me being first in line to put down a deposit.
Of course, I'm one of those 40 year olds that shouldn't be on this forum anyway (see post#40).

Honestly, just think about that aspect: Do you know what kind of members this will bring to the board?

I think many of the 40-50 year olds remember a thing or to about rotary engines. Any besides, we buy Porsches for our midlife criss and Rotaries to drive.
That's a good point. 40-50+ year olds remember the rotary as a very reliable, fuel efficient and low emissions engine! Oh, and they may know that it's fast too.
For example there's the rotary pickup. "The pickup with pickup". And since it has a fuel efficient rotary engine and a large 20 gallon gas tank, you know it can go farther between fillups. Or the low emissions rotary bus. Ahhh, memories.
Then the gas crisis hit, the rotary got a lot of bad press, and its fuel economy got exagerrated the other way. Then the heavily ported FD hit, emissions went kaput, as did the reputation for reliability.

The new Z06 is also very nice but like the current Z it's probably too bulky and heavy feeling. The susp and most everthing else on the car is dated. I know I know they did some neat stuff with the weight savings etc... but it's still a boring build and probably a boring drive.
The next FD should be around 2800lbs or less with 500 hp. Now with that goal in mind just turn the Mazda engineers loose to let them do what they do best which is to make it light, make it handle, and most importantly make it fun to drive.
However in the mean time I'll just keep keeping on with my FDs, yeah BABY Hoorahh, Hoorahh my track DAWG. I can't wait to pass my first well driven c6 Z06 with you right on my ***

You apparently haven't seen Fritz's numerous in-car vids on various racetracks on the east coast where the "monster bow ties" end up becoming rolling chicanes before they wave him by. I'd say he's entitled to his own opinion. Try searching using "fritz flynn videos"...
