help withDumb question but I need my plugs

I know this is a somewhat dumb thread but...
I just had a mechanic test some of my engine parts today including the coil packs, and I wanted to make sure he installed the spark plug wires correctly before I try and start it again. So do the spark plug wires go like this--

Thanks

What is that? The spark plug holes look somewhat like this.

OO
OO

They are one on top of another on the rotar housing. Not as you pictured them above. Redo your picture and you may get a better answer.

No seriously I looked everywhere you would think something this basic would be in the manual or in the forum but trust me its not. .. I used the free manual from iluvmyrx7.com.

The plugs in the center are the Leading Coil plugs. They go on the lower two plug holes. The one on top is Rotor #1, the one on the bottom is Rotor #2.

The plugs on the sides are the trailing plugs. They go in the top plug holes.

Pic and information here from Rob Robinette. Should answer all your questions.

#1 in your pic goes to #1 Trailing plug
#2 in your pic goes to #1 Leading plug
#3 in your pic goes to #2 Leading plug
#4 in your pic goes to #2 Trailing plug

The front rotor is #1, rear is #2.
Spark plugs nearest the ground are the Leading (lower).
Spark plugs nearest the hood are the Trailign (top).

Use this pic, if you use the other one, you're bond to blow your motor up. The easiest to think of it is Trailing (top), Leading (Lower). so, 1 goes to top front, 2 goes to bottom front, 3 goes to bottom rear, 4 goes to top rear. You can interchange 2 and 3 as long as they're both at the bottom since they both fired at the same time.

Hope that helps,

Steve

Steve's reply is correct... In fact, if you look carefully at the top of the coils.... you'll notice that Mazda was thinking of just this situation. On the top of your coils there are raised letters/numbers that state "L-1 and L-2" meaning Leading 1 and Leading 2. Also, if you carefully look at the spark-plug holes on your engine you'll also see the initials "L-1 and L-2 cast into the engine housings just above the respective spark-plug holes. If your were still using stock Mazda Spark plug wires, Mazda even labled those to avoid mixing them up. The same is true for the trailing.
