Help w/ sticking throttle

Hey guys here's the problem. Earlier today my throttle would not allow the car to idle below 2500 RPMs. I found the nuts that hold the throttle cable were loose. I fixed that, and then re-adjusted the throttle in order to get the idle back to 1000. Unfortunately, anytime I drive it the RPMs will not drop below 1500 unless I pull the gas towards me. Looking at it, it appears as if the it's sticking for some reason. Nothing is touching it. My best guess is the spring that's attached to it gave out. Anyone else have an idea? Thanks.

I am having the same problems as of yesterday. Before it was fine and would only idle at 2k rpm after a long ride on the interstate (off ramp for a few seconds). Try lubing the throttle cable, where the actual cable is...not the rubber cover. I'm sure there's more things out there...actually I know there is, I'm just too tired right now. My only idea at the time minus searching

Many times the TB just needs to be cleaned and lubricated. Also, the throttle cable should have *some* slack in it - if it's banjo-tight, you'll get problems.

I'd pull the TB off the car, clean all the grit and stuff off the linkages, and lube with some WD-40. Should be good to go.

^ What he said. Except that you're really not lubing anything by applying WD-40. Just squirt a little oil on all the friction points and make sure the Cable isn't pinching on anything.

I have seen some light surface corrosion on the moving parts of throttle bodies before. The WD-40 helps break it up and get the parts sliding like they should.

I fixed up an FC that had rust on the roller cam for the fast idle/thermowax. The rust kept it from moving down the cam and going to regular idle. Wire wheel on the Dremel, cleaned it up, worked great.

Most throttle body stuff isn't that tricky - just play around with them and learn.

Check the little rubber cap at the end of the jacket on the throttle cable. Mine popped off once and wouldn't let the throttle return all the way. I would also completely disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body and make certain the cable itself slides freely.

I'd use carb cleaner. stuff builds up in there and won't let the plate close all of the way, basically creating a vacuum leak. Carb cleaner or intake cleaner may help your problem
