Question Help with turbo removal please

Ok after hours of searching I am finally confident that I can remove my turbos (to port the wastegate). However, there is still some info I need. I just need to know if anyone has a list of the bolts/studs/gaskets/hoses ect. I will need to replace while I have everthing apart.

Part numbers will also be a very big help. I just want to make sure i have everything I'd like to get the job done as fast as possible to minimize downtime.
The sooner I find out the parts I need the sooner can order them. I'm looking foward to the PITA job that awaits me.

Thanx in advance.

You won't need any new bolts or gaskets, you will ned to be carefull when you remove the oil return lines b/c those gaskets are more fragile otherwise you'll be OK.

Make sure also when you remove the oil feed like to hold the male fitting while you turn the female out, but I'm sure you already knew that.

Soak all bolts with WD40 hours before removal and also right before you put them back on.
Good luck.

PB Blaster will probably work a little better than wd40.

If your extra careful, you won't need to replace any bolts or gaskets, unless you're having current leakage issues.

I was planning on using PB blaster. I plan on taking my time so I hope everything works out ok. I don't have any leaks right now so I am planning on reusing everything i can.

And the most important thing....: If you have to remove the Turbo(s) from the turbo manifold, you must place precise index marks on the housings/manifold to help assist with exact factory placement of the Turbos in the re-installment process.

Take note of the location of the two coolant lines when you remove the twins. Imagine trying to replace them with the turbos in place. There like $16 bucks from Ray.

Hey PD, I dropped my twins out last night in just about an hour, its not that hard once you get in there. The hardest part is coaxing the damn thing out of the front end of the car when you do get everything unhooked, but I did have my car jacked up a few feet off of the ground, making it a tad hard to get leverage.

P.S. You stole my avatar! :-P

I may try to do a small write up on porting it also, we can probably combine our stuff over at OKS and make it one nice write up. Heaven knows I have at least one site I could host it on.

A combined write-up would be awsome. I'll probably start on mine this weekend, and keep you posted. Lets make this write-up worthy of the archives.
