help - second turbo does not engage unless i double clutch

hi all,

title says it all. i've already searched but to no avail. please point me in the right direction if this has been discussed before. car boosts ~7psi at high-end unless i double clutch. after doing that, it reaches ~14 psi.

thanks,

ask Vin Diesel...

anyways, what is the point of double-clutching? for people that can't rev match? << it's a real question, i can't think of a situation where you'd need to do that...

Sorry, my friend was explaining this to me while he was driving my car. Basically, I go in first gear and shift to second. Rev to right before the second turbo engages ~4.5K RPM. Keep your foot on the gas and kick the clutch to let the RPM drop a little, but don't keep your foot on the clutch. RPM drops ~1K, then the car jerks a bit and past 4.5K the second turbo engages. If I don't do this, boost stays ~7 psi past 4.5K RPM.

In short, the car needs more "oomph" to get the second turbo spooling. I apologize if I wasn't clear, this was around 3AM last night.

That's not double clutching.

Try changing the check valves that lead to the vacuum chamber and pressure chamber.

no worries =). unlike some internet users, i don't need a big e-*****. and i also found that being a good sport tends to lighten the mood and attract helpful people.

Just a quick FYI:

"Double Clutching" refers to having a car in one gear, pressing the clutch in, changing from the selected gear into neutral, releasing the clutch, pressing the clutch back in, selecting the new gear, and releasing the clutch again. Used with vehicles that don't have synchros (like big rigs)

You are lucky you didn't blow the welds on the intake. Now me and the mad scientist are going to have to tear down the motor and replace the oil control rings you fried.

(Sorry.. Had to do it)

This is just a clutch kick used as one of the many ways to break the back end loose in drifting. To keep the FnF stuff going, it was used by DK in FnF3 (aka 3 fast 3 furious) in the 350z against the d-bag main character in the S15.
