help removing the water pump body

Well I am changing the gasket between the water pump body and the engine because it is shot. I have everything apart and out of the way, but I am not sure how to actually get the water pump body off without removing the studs. The problem is, it looks like the studs hold another part onto the engine and I don't want to mess anything up or get in over my head. Is it necessary to remove the mounting studs for the water pump and water pump body in order to remove the water pump body from the engine completely? Will this cause me any problems? Do the studs hold any engine peices on or are they just screwed in there to support the water pump and water pump body? There just doesn't seem to be enough room to slide the body all the way off the front of the studs. How do I get the darn thing off?! Thanks. I figured better safe than sorry and someone on here should know.

did you undo the water pump pully? make sure the metering oil tube and MOP harness is out of the way, then the pump should come off.

It seems that the low pressure a/c line is in the way. The lower end of the water pump housing that the radiator hose attaches to is hitting the a/c line. I am also having trouble completely getting the wiring harness out of the way. The side with the plug should be no problem but the other side might be difficult

OK figured out to remove the crossmember. Now the only thing left is the wire harness that crosses in front of the bottom neck of the water pump body. I can't figure out how to move those lines because there is not much slack and they all run to different places. Any advice? Thanks so much for all the help so far.

Had that same problem when I changed mine. The lines that you speak of are the metering lines I think only way I could get mine out was to unbolt those lines. There maybe another way but I wasn't able to see it.

You might also be talking about the OMP wiring. If that is in the way, you can unplug it near the alternator. The OMP wiring runs from near the alternator, behind the black pressure chamber, along the front of the engine, and along the water pump housing down to the OMP.
