help quick! was doing vacuum job

ok, so I FINALLY finished my vacuum line job, and after getting it done, I get in to start her, she has some trouble starting, and once she starts, its backfiring alot and feels like its misfiring, so I let it warm up, it gets to operating temp, idle is steady and shes running ok, but I still got my check engine light on, I take her out and it was ok for a few min, then it just starts to bog alot and stutter when accelerating and goes like bup bup bup bup bup bup and its really weak, then when I come back, it wants to die when Its idleing, and then when I let the clutch out, it would bump up and down from about 100-200 rpms and almost die but not quite.... what should I do? how do I check the engine light?

STeve

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/engine_codes.html That's for the ecu codes. Sounds like limp home mode to me. Check the codes, and get back to me.

You plugged your tps back in, right? Did you mess with the tps at all besides unplugging it? Also, I know everyone always says this, but check to make sure your MAP sensor hose is connected.

Did you check you MAP sensor? Vac hose that goes to a little black box on the firewall near the brake master cylinder. Make sure you have it plugged in to the correct nipple on the throttle body too. There was a guy on here a while ago that had it ont he wrong tb nipple.

Can you describe what you mean by 'bog'? Are you just not getting boost, or is it backfiring? And you are not getting a check engine light, right?

I get perfect boost though, my engine will go all the way to redline with light boost, and the noise I was hearing was my boost hesitating like mad because of my engine hesitating, my boost needle would bounce all over the place.

I guarantee you you probably left a hose off somewhere. Just retrace your steps and you'll find it

Keep looking man. The car ran fine before you started right? So then you forgot something somewhere. Go over everything one at a time. I would pull the UIM back off and check the lines too.

I took mine to this place out in Skokie to have th engine smoked. I would suggest you find a way to get the intake sealed while doing this test.

What they do is hook up a machine to the vacum hose on the master cylinder and create pressure thru the system while sending a "smoke" thru the system. With the pressure the smoke will find the path with the least resistance... the leak. It creats up to about 7psi.

I had an idea like that a while back, but I didn't have the proper tools. Now I just use compressed air, and listen/feel for leaks.
