HELP PLEASE: headlights dont turn on

My headlights just failed on me tonight dont no what happen it was just working a while ago. When i turn on the headlights it only flips up but no light and fog lamps dont turn on. All the other lights are on except the headlights and foglamps. The wierd thing is the highbeams work though. I checked the HEAD fuse in the fuse box under the hood and all the bulbs they all look fine. Can someone help me please dont want to drive with highbeams on all the time. Thanks.

First check the fuses (should be ok but check anyway). Then check the headlight relay. You say the high beams are working so most likely the relay is OK. Does the high beam indicator light come on in the guage cluster? Does the flash to pass work?

Once the easy stuff is out of the way, then check the combo switch contacts and all the connectors. YOu can download the electrical manual, its wiring diagram E-1, pasge Z-54

...and if that does work, check your ignition switch to see if there is any pitting. this happened and my light did not go on.

If your high beams work then the relay should be ok. You did check the headlights themselves? Maybe the bulbs are both burned out (not likely but easy to check). The ignitionswitch is where you put the key in.

first check and see if your relay is good and running and your fuses are good too. if that does not work, then take off your steering wheel shroud (the plastic inbetween your cluster and your steering wheel). on the other side where you put your key in, there should be a white thingy with two screws and wiring coming out of it. undo the 2 screws and ****CAREFULLY**** remove the white plastic from the housing where your wires are coming out of. do not loose the 2 springs!!! check and see if there is any pitting or cavities. also check and see that there is still some meat on the switch to which the current engages. if there is pitting and you dont have alot of money, you can borrow a cold heat solder iron (the thing you see on TV all the time) and fill the cavity. this is like dentistry so you need some really smooth hands. if the contacts are worn thin, then you need to replace the switch. go and buy the switch and only the switch. you do not need to buy the key tumbler or anything. but this is only if you have checked your fuses and relays.

no one would ever expect an ignition switch because it sends signal power to the ECM, to the headlights, the radio, main relays, ect when you turn the key. also notice that the ignition switch attaches to the fuse box panel. i work on so many cars as well as my own, that i forget what goes to what :-/

but i do know this, the ignition switch can **** you because imagine being on the 101 and all of the sudden your car looses complete power... you are kinda screwed right. so to tell someone that your ingnition switch is going, your headlights wont work. the same affect that if your dash is out, your tail lights dont work... same safety concept yo!

I have the same problem.

My lights will flip up only if I push the flipper button, but lights will not come on. Parking lights work.

Where is the relay located- is there only one?
