help from NY residence with fd purchase!

Hey! i live about 6hrs away from the NY location on what seems like a good 93 FD sale!

http://www.danddcarsales.com/showcase.php?item=1306

Would it be possible for anyone to do me a HUGE favor??? i know im new... id be willing to give someone like 200 dollars to check it out for me before i go up there to buy it check it out for myself...

some things to check out for would be...

1. Open the cap on the thermostat housing and take a look at the coolant. Make sure there is NO oil.

2. Take a look at the dipstick in the coolant overflow bottle. You may see some brown crud that magically accumulates in the overflow bottle. Make sure there is NO oil.

3. Pull the engine oil dipstick and look for any signs of water.

Basically looking to see if any signs of oil got into the coolant or visa versa, the seals good...

4. See if the air separation tank is leaking

5. If possible check to see that it is boosting correctly, 10-8-10...

6. also check the smoke to see if the turbo's are bad...

hmm i think thats it! i really hope someone is close and doesnt mind stopping by checking it out for me!

thank you all! im really hopeing to come to the community!

i guess some basic things to check for me!

I got those things to check from... http://rx7.voodoobox.net/infofaq/bguide3g/bguide3g.html

the location for the RX7 1993 is at...

491 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY
607.722.7394

I could possibly do it. I'm busy until next weekend though. I'm sure you checked the for sale section but I would keep looking for something more local. Are you sure you want an automatic???

I don't understand why that website says to check for oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil... I can't remember the last time I heard of a head gasket failure on these things.

A more indicative test would be coolant pressure test and hydrocarbon in coolant test. No mention of compression either! You need a better list.

i see. Well id love to do a compression test on her but unfortunatly i would have thought that that would be to much to ask from someone.

yeah for some reason it says automatic on there website but on cars.com where i found it it says manual.... i asked for more pictures.. it ALMOST looks like manual in the pictures on the website.

yeah im new too the FD club so i really appreciate all the feedback!

Yeah if its automatic ill have to cross that off my list...

I didn't even see there were other pictures. Now that I got to look through them I can see it's a manual. The engine looks very well maintained. Mazda never did have good luck with paint on any of their early cars. I'll see if I can make the long drive next weekend for you...

thanks! i appreciate it! im trying to have him send me more pictures today on the car. If it looks ok, i might take try to drive up there myself as well possibly next week or something sometime... not 100% though... they did get back to me and said it is for sure a manual like the pictures seem to indicate. He is also going to get me a carfax report. Ill post it up here along with the pictures to see what you guys think.

Thanks!! Ill keep all of you informed!

why does it say automatic and then say that the clutch was changed? if it is a manual, check the 5th gear synchro, drive hard in 3rd and shift directly to 5th. if it grinds its not good.
