Arrow HELP! No spooling or boost?!?

Got my FD from Japan, and It has never spooled at all (I know what it sounds like I have a TT supra), or made any boost (obvoiusly)

One thing though.... 2 times when I was driving up a steep hill I saw boost/heard spool ...but only for a fraction of a second...and the BOV went off when I shifted (an SSQV-really loud)....

any ideas?!?!?!?

You have a severe boost leak, maybe? Maybe the stress of going up the steep hill was enough to overcome the boost leak of some sort?

I dunno, start looking for leaks. Replace all gaskets...and with the car running, spray some carb cleaner on the intake pipes, the idle will stumble ( or get better ) when you find the hole.

You probably wouldn't hear the turbo spooling unless it's got a MP/DP (I never heard my turbo's until I did some mods actually).

That really LOUD BOV sound was probably a boost leak. If you're not hearing any boost leaks (one loud sound usually when you shift?), it could be a leak in a few places. I know when I had only one boost leak, it sounded like the BOV was super loud (it wasn't the BOV).

After that I would check Charge control and your charge control rod (that's where my issue was, the rod was holding the main turbo flap open, no boost. I adjusted it to close the door, and perfect boost!)

Sweet, well that makes me a little less Concerned!
tyvm!

Ill be sure to check the charge control.... the car was sitting in japan (high humidity climate, obviously) for a good while... so rust could have a part to play in this!
