Help Me Start My Fd.., PLLEEEAAZZZEE

Well it's finally time to turn the key... but I wanted to get some preliminaries before I turn the key...

Basically, what do I need to do/know before starting it...

Here is the config...

New rebuild and street ported by KD Rotary (new)
Filters
Catback
Downpipe
full non sequential
removed unwanted plugs from harness (new)
stock fuel system
Power FC w/ commander (new)
Greddy pullies
NGK 9s all around
Taylor Plug wires

Do I need to add ATF before I start it?
Do I need to pull the fuel pump relay to prime the fluids? I added 5 quarts of oil (dual oil coolors) but I think it needs 6
How long do i need to crank it to prime everything?

anything else I'm missing??

I'm also worried since Jay (turbovr6) is having problems and we kinda of have the same situation besides turbo setups, so I want to do this right...

any suggestions.. .PLLLEAASE help.. today will be the day...

atf should not be needed but you can do it if you want. as for the priming the fuel system, jsut ground the f/p in the diagnostic cover for a couple of secs and then jsut start her up. good luck

all you really need to do is make sure the oil is topped off, the coolant is topped off, and yeah, prime the fuel.

if you're starting it for the first time, you should let it run for 15 minutes before shutting it off. it should make a lot of smoke (burning off hylomar and such).

as for the PFC, i started my rebuild with the stock ECU, and am waiting until i get the break in complete before i put the PFC in.

I was wondering the same thing about a new Power FC... doesn't it go through a learning mode at first?? When starting a new rebuild I would think working out all the little quirks first on the stock ecu would make sense, then plug in the Power FC after you know everything is running the way it should. I will be going through this next week, hopefully .

my problem concerning the power fc is that I am running non seq with all the emissions taken out... AWS/DT/EGR/ACV are disabled and blocked off... so if i use the stock ECU then i'll get a whole bunch of codes...

son of a #$@!%... you are right about the stupid codes. I'll be running non-seq. also so I guess I'll let you experiment and see what happens so I don't make any mistakes next week

The stock ecu would have had to learn the new engine as well since its been unplugged for a while. Gather sensor data at idle, idle rpms, cruising, etc. Do it with the PFC since both ecu's would have to learn the car anyways.
