Unhappy Help me please! :(

I have a 94 FD and recently I brought it to my local shop to spray two interior panels while I went on vacation. Well I get back and the car will not start. I checked the voltage and charged the batteries...nothing. The car kinda turned over a little but then droped. Now it just is nothing....just cranking...any ideas?????

It is just a local stereo shop...they were spraying my panels and fixing my DVD player to play while driving. So they have no clue...

how did you figure it was this???

In anycase, here is the simple procedure...

Step 1: get in car, put foot on gas and go wot with out car on (just floor the gas)
Step 2: Crank car for about 10-15 secs about 2-3 times and then let the starter rest for about 1/2 an hour (so you dont burn the starter out). Dont let off the gas at all. Keep it at WOT (wide open throttle) during this entire process
Step 3: Pray to god it starts and then try to start it normally

Some times this works, some times it doesn't. If this dont work, do it a couple more times and if it dont work after that, whip out the tools Good luck

If the car is flooded then this will work:

Push start it. Turn the key to the on position and have someone push it as fast as they can and have the clutch all the way down while the car is in first gear. Then just let go of the clutch fast and give it full throttle and it should start.

if this doesn't work take out one of the spark plugs or your boost gauge on the uim and inject some Automatic transmission fluid in there to help it to start.

1st gear? Everyone that I have helped or have helped me do it, do it in 2nd gear.

I figured it was a fuel problem because it just keeps cranking with no turn over and also, there is a definite smell of gas.

I pulled the pump relay and tried staring for 10-15 sec letting it rest for 5min and then again like 6 or 7 times...nada....so does everyone recommend the complex procedure or am I looking at this wrong?

BTW I cant push start it because there are no hills by the stereo store

Yeah, SECOND gear, lol good luck with first.....

You dont need hills, just ask them all nicely to help you push the car, u dont even have to get it going all that fast.

Yes, think about this way. When your driving the car, you leave it in a gear, and let the engine break for you winding down from 3 k RPMS, the only reason ithe engine hasn't fallen to idle speeds, is because the momentum of the entire car is not allowing it.

If your pushing a car 10-15 mph, the rear end, drive axel, trans, clutch etc is all spinning at the speed it would given the MPH of the car. When suddenly, you slam all these moving parts, with the momentum of a 2800 pound car moving behind them, onto the flywheel its going to spin the engine.

How did those fuckwads flood your engine anyway? I dont even see why they needed to start your engine at all. They probably took it for some joyrides too.

hey buddy there are no huge procedures.

why dont you just go try it hands on instead of asking and researching more after we told you some things to do already

you should have stayed and watched them do the work on your car

just try pushstarting it you dont have to get it going fast at all just push as hard as you can for about 40 feet on a flat surface
Ive always done it in first gear but whatever

If it doesnt work go get some atf and try to put a few tablespoons worth into the motor through one of the nipples on top of the uim.

simple enough
if you have any questions after youve tried this im sure we can come up with more solutions.

The engine was flooded....I pulled the plugs and they were black and you could smell the fuel all the way across the shop. I let it sit overnight and then pulled the pump relay and kept starting it until no more fuel came of the plug holes...I then plugged in some new plugs hooked everything back up and it started on the first crank

lol

I remember using the "brute force" method as well on my own car. Shooting stuff out of the plug holes is cool

Its good to hear you got it started but... you held it at 7k for a full min while cold ? I don't even do that when warm and racing (I shift up, it makes ya go faster haha )

Don't push start the car! It is very bad for the apex, and corner seals. Trust me, I know this the hard way.
