Help ME!!! im retarded

Soooooooooo my cars like 95% done need oil cooler lines and intercooler lines but the problem im having right now is i took the hood latch and cable off my car because i was having some metal work done on front end.

and now my dumb *** cant figure out how to put the ball back into the hood latch i wraped it around 1 way and it held in place but it was so tight that it wouldnt allow the hood to lock so i was wondering if anyone has a picture or can take a picture to show me how to wrap this around correctly i tried searching already even searched google and youtube cant find a picture

Thanks in advance next time ill take some pics when im takin it off to make sure i know how to put it back on

The green plastic piece slides into the slot located on the back right (driver's) side.

Take a close look at it, I've been replacing many of them at the shop with new OEM pieces, that green plastic piece tends to be pretty brittle now that it's almost 20 years old. Might be better off ordering a new one, they're pretty inexpensive.

Yeah, buy a new one. That green plastic thing will probably break off if you try to fiddle with it too much. A new one is not expensive and it comes with a new release lever so it will even spruce up your interior a smidgen.

You've been able to just replace the green plastic piece? I really would like to get a little metal piece or something instead of counting on that dinky piece.
