Help me diagnose my cooling fan problem please. Thanks!
Hello FD owners. Need some help diagnosing a problem.
My FD was running fine until yesterday. I noticed every time I get to a stop while the car is running the a/c wouldn't blow cold anymore. I just thought being in Houston during the summer was to blame. However when I got home I was sitting in the driveway with the car idling I was messing with the radio I just installed. Probably sat in the driveway for about 10-15 min then by the time I shut the engine off I started hearing gurgling noises from the engine bay (coolant boiling). I was in a bit of shock wondering why. So I turned on my ignition and turned on the a/c to turn on the cooling fans. They did not turn on. So I figured this is the reason why it started to overheat. However opening the engine bay and letting it sit to cool off, the fans did turn on later randomly it seemed. Again I turned on only the ignition maybe after 30 mins from the first incident, flipped a/c on and the cooling fans worked again, but it did so at a slower speed and turned off shortly after. This morning when I turned on the ignition the fans turned on at high speed and the car was completely cold. I then drove the car around the block and when I got to my destination I inspected the fans only to see it not work again.
So here is my question, what could be wrong? The fans can turn on at low or even high speeds, albeit randomly. Is this a sign of a bad fan relay? Or when a relay goes bad it either works or it doesn't? My first jab at this will be to replace all the relays for the fans. I do have a Billion Fan Controller that used to turn on the fans manually with a push of a button, now it does nothing when I push it. The fans seems to work whenever. Something definitely is wrong, but I need help figuring what it could be.
I appreciate the responses in advance. Take care fellow FD owners.

I would start with checking the wiring for the fan controller. OEM wires typically don't go bad, but spliced in aftermarket electronics will very often.
The fans have 3 speeds, low/medium/high. Both fans run at the same speed. Each input bumps up the speed a notch - turn on AC, fans on low, fan switch trips, fans on medium.

It should. But, start with the easy stuff, check the wiring on that fan controller.
There's a thread recently (past week or so) on fans not coming on with AC, that has a lot of good stuff in it too.

I tried to ground the relays and one of them doesn't click, I'm guessing the relay is on its way out. Will report back to see if replacing it fixes it.
