Exclamation HELP: intercooler hoses - Pettit Coolcharge II SMIC

Guys,

I bought a new Pettit intercooler - the Coolcharge II model

http://pettitracing.com/rx7/index_turbo.htm

My car is up at Summit Point having a few things done to get it all sorted out. The techs are having trouble getting the Pettit supplied hoses to fit correctly... they tell me that the 'angles' on the hoses are all off.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Would you suggest that I source hoses from another manufacturer? Thank you in advance for pointing me in the right direction.

-Greg

Are you using a Greddy elbow and/or a Efini Y-Pipe?

is that the problem? i would have thought that Pettit would have informed me that the system must use aftermarket elbow, etc.

if its from the elbow, as you can see from their pictures on the site.. they use the stock elbow on it. and stock S pipe, so that shouldn't be a problem, if you got the CC3 like i did, you would of needed the aftermarket elbow.

this photo shows that the outlet (top of intercooler) needs to be moved to the right... toward the battery. Use the alternator as a reference point. if you have the Pettit Coolcharge II SMIC - let me know what yours looks like. Thanks very much.

Seems like you may need a slightly smaller battery.

yes, but it is supposed to be a direct fit replacement - for use with stock battery. it's bolted up correctly.

Their picture isn't dead on, but their battery doesn't "seem" to be the same size as the one you are using:

Can you take a picture a little further out so we can see the duct going into the front structure?

i bet they haven't slid the duct far enough forward.

i have their CCIII duct, and you do have to push pretty hard on it to get it wedged in the hole between the radiator & frame.

looking at your pic, it appears everything is sitting to far back (towards the motor) and the duct not being forward enough is likely the cause.

tell them to make sure they have the duct slid all the way up to the body, like in this photo:

the guys at RP Performance - Summit Point, WV have been GREAT. Unfortunately Pettit's customer service has not been so great...

just cut the hose down a bit. You shouldn't have to, but you definitely could.

looks like to me that you haven't slid the unit far back enough to the front of the car. Maybe try doing the and if you can't I would just trim the hose down a bit and make it fit.
