Help!! Installing 99 front end with Greddy FMIC and 99+ stock fog lights..
So, I have these parts and wondering if anyone has done this..
I have complete 99 spec front end with reinforcement bar, signal, lip, and even the fog lights..
I also have the 2 row Greddy FMIC..
I want to put all together.. But seems like the fog lights mount to the reinforcement bar.. If any of you have mounted the fog lights and have FMIC, please let me know and tell me how you did this.. I am about 2 weeks until I have to do this.. at that point, my whole car should be painted and ready to be installed..
Thank you SO much in advance..

Wish I could help. But I'll be looking very closely at this thread as I intend to buy the same front end. I can't wait to see it when it's all together and painted. Please post a few pics. Thanks. Good Luck.
We have installed a bunch of them with the stock bumper. Im guessing you will have to trim the inside of the 99 bumper and I dont think that rebar will work with that front mount.

Jason, thanks.. i didn't think the rebar will fit.. I guess I could cut the fog light mounting bar and try to mount somewhere..
Ludeowner, That is a very good idea.. I'll also post it on Far east forum..
But if anyone has any idea, please post here..
If I figure something out, I will do DYI and post..

Helpful hints to others..
Well, As I have post this before.. and no one seemed to have done this mod.. which seems very unlike..
Anyhow, I wanted to help those who are interested in putting the 99 fogs with FMIC on 99+ front end..
First, I had to completely cut the 99+ rebar.. this is must.. but make sure not to cut too much.. Hope the picture below will help..

I'll take some pics and post/// i am now using Apexi primary intake with Blitz SS filter and Blitz secondary intake with blitz SS filter.. I'm getting BNR to close up couple of holes but they fit perfect with Greddy front mount.. i also need the piping to be polished..
I'll post some pics in few days.

HI ya. Have fitted a few series-8 nose cones to earlier series-6 & series-7 versions.
You have obviously sussed out how to fit it too.
The S-8 fog lights have there own mounting bracket unique to the S-8 reinforcement bar. Did you get the brackets with your purchase.??
They will attach straight away once you have those. They look great once fitted & let you drive at night without the need to pop the main lights up.
Here is a pic of my personal S-8. Its the top line version "Type-RS" so it gets the fog lights as standard. The switch is in the cluster behind the gear shift. The (factory) relay for them is in the main relay box at the nose of the engine bay. As the US market got the S-6 only (92-95) you will not have the appropriate wiring in the factory loom to simply "plug them in". So running wires is going to be part of the deal.

Yep.. thats correct.. The rebar has mounting whole for the fog lights.. I'm currently missing one bracket for the passenger side.. Its being shipped from Japan.. Also, I'm slightly confused to what you are saying about the wiring harness, so, the old fog light harness will plug right in?? I tried, but it didn't fit.. i will try again..

Are you saying that you have the factory wiring harness for the Series-6 driving lights........???
If you do, then you will just have to change the plugs as the S-8 plugs are different.
Thats after you mount them of course.

Ahh.. I thought they were different.. I have to contact my source in Japan and see if he could get the harness for me..
Thanks for the info..

I wouldn't advise going for the S-8 body harness. It would mean changes to all the plugs hanging off it. Despite looking similar, Mazda made around 40% of the wiring different between the S-6 & S-8. Its subtle but you notice it the moment you start to play with it.
You will effectively be starting an avelanche. Just get the plugs from a smashed S-8 in Japan if you want it to look standard.

Ohhhh Nooo.. I'm not going to get the S8 engine harness.. just the fog light harness so that I could just plug the lights.. and then connect to the fog light harness on the S6. Sorry for the confusion...
Ok, yet I don't think its a matter of getting a fog light harness. They don't come seperately (as far as I know). The wiring for the driving lights is part of the main harness, in other words you will find the wires inside it with another 40 wires to boot just to pull the correct ones out. Not cost effective here.
I have a solution though..............
Here is what I did to a S-6 that had the S-8 nose installed onto it like your doing. He wanted the driving lights to look & run just like the original.
For the S-8, the driving lights work when you turn on the "park" or "main" lights. Simply wired the switch to a 12V+ source from the dash lights.
Next, I ran a wire from the switch to the right side (rhd drivers side) kick panel. Found CPU-2 & bypassed the wire for the bonnet release switch. This is part of the factory security system & I think the USA spec S-6 got that too.
Cut the bonnet switch wire at both ends. Soldered it to the first wire under the dash & I now have a switched 12v+ to the front. (you will have to GND- the cut wire to CPU-2 or the factory alarm will activate all the time) of the car.
Next, find a Mazda mini relay that goes into the small relay socket in the "relay box" at the nose. Wire it in with your new "signal wire" & then run the (thicker) power line to the lights. Do this with the nose attached as space is tight enough to start with.
So many guys down under are updating their S-6 or S-7 version to the S-8. You pick them straight away on the roads.
S-8 nose or S-8 tail lights but rarely the S-8 spoiler.. Dead giveaway.......lol

While an old thread, I have the same problem here:
1) Any pics of the trimmed rebar in order to enable the 99-bumper, 99-fog-lights, and Greddy FMIC to co-exist? The pictures of Philip doesn't show...
2) Anyone came up with a way to mount the 99-foglights without the rebar?
