Looking for some one to convert my 1994 rx7 tailights to jdm

Hi rx7's owners I'm trying to look for instructions on how to convert my 1994 rx7 tailights to jdm tailights the ones with the 3 circles. If you have converted tailights before how much do you charge or how much should the project cost me. I'm in Los Angeles California if anyone local wants tI convey them

What you're looking for aren't necessarily "JDM" taillights, rather you're looking for the "99 spec" ones.

You'll turn up a lot of you search for 99 spec tail lights both on here and in google.

There's no reason to convert anymore.

There was a time when JDM taillights (the round ones) cost like, $1000. You could only get them new. So converting USDM lights was the only real option, unless you were a baller. Even with conversions, most leaked or got foggy after a while or just looked shitty (wrong size hole, wrong kind of paint, etc).

Now days, you can get a JDM set for like $300. Plus have your old set as a back up or to sell.

I agree. I did do the conversion myself and justified it as 300 to put into somewhere else on my car... looking back I would have just bought the lights. Although if it is done right they never leak and will never get cloudy. That's just laziness.

theorie on this forum coverted my tailights and I could not be happier. He also polished them and they really look great. No moisture gets in them either.

For the $$, I was able to do this and buy new floor mats from JasonS for the price of REAL lights.

I have a set that are converted, don't leak and are not fogged up. Have some scratches but nothing horrible. Most you cant see unless you look for them.

PM me an offer and I can ship them out this week.

you'll have to do some research regarding the distance of the rounds cercle in the 99 taillights
the diameter of the brake cercle are 80mm and the turning one are 75mm

people say dont use the oven , but hey ! i did it many times and it works !

- remove the 6 or 7 screws that hold the taillight together
- pre-heat at 200F
-put your tail light in it for 10min , **place it facing up on a rag* on something hard like a pizza pan* kinda style
-keep eye on it , its important
-every 4-5min take a flat head screwdriver and start prying it open a bit and put back in oven
-repeat the procedure until your able to seperate the housing by hand (around 4th time should be good)
-once your taillight is apart , remove the red & orange plastic in the housing
- on a piece of paper , draw & cut 80mm & 75mm cercles
(btw you can do any design you want to appear on your tail lights , square, stars, diamonds,it doesn't have to be circles)
-place your template on the plastic your using with some kid glue & paint the whole thing.
-remove the template once paint is dry and MAGIC!! 99 spec taillights.
-repeat the oven procedure to warm up the glue and put it back together and VOILA your finish

I would also like to do the conversion. Does anyone know the exact distance the circles need to be from each other?
