HELP! I put my polished manifold back on now my car IDLES BAD !

I need some help! I took my upper manifold and throttle body off to get polished. Well today i put it back on hooked all vacum lines and so on. I checked them with Robinettes turbo system map on his website the best I could. When I started the car it idles like its missing sounds terrible and is running SUPER RICH. I know its kind of hard to say do this and that and it will fix it but any suggestions on what I might have crossed or anything? any suggestons at this point are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

MAP sensor

I'd first check the vacuum line to the firewall mounted MAP sensor. Best of luck.

Just take it back off and put it back on and check every vac line, use a diagram and check off every hose...

I had a similar problem, and noticed I forgot to reconnect the wiring connector back to the throttle body (don't know correct terms). It is the electronic plug on the throttle body that is on the same side as the firewall. Hope that helps.

yah check the hoses again....doing stuff yourself leads to that kind of thing...

if you want to do it right...pull that whole motor...do the port...and get some power out of that engine of yours.

hehehe

was in SD for the races this weekend...there is a big get together this weekend up here in OC. Lots of cars...some of the fast and furious cars were there last weekend...if you would like to go...send me an email...I would like to at least see that car of yours when you get it running.

my car is tip top shape and running quick....

always ready for the test...

How much did you pay for the polish job?

Sounds like it may be one of two things. 1. The Pressure Sensor. 2. One of the Spark Plug wires fell off while you were installing the manifold. Sounds like a leading wire off of the leading coil.

For what ever reason, did you turn the ignition on when you had the intake off? If you did, then all the sensors were disconnected and may be causing an error in the ECU.

If so, have you tried resetting the ECU?

Definitely sounds like you knocked off your map sensor line... check that, then check all the vaccum hoses underneath the manifold.

Best o' luck!

I had a similar problem a while back. The solution for me was simple...just reset the ECU by KOKO and Brake depression.

I agree with Flybye....disconnect the battery and press the brake about 5 times and then wait a half hour before reconnecting. Let us know if it works.

Map sensor, I bet you knocked the hose off. I changed my plugs and wires two weeks ago, went to start the car and it did the exact same thing.. missing, reeked of unburnt fuel. Scratched my head for a few minutes and noticed I had knocked off the map sensor hose somehow.

I also agree with the map sensor. It'll give you those exact symptoms. Check the line, and also make sure you have it plugged into the right place. Another guy on this forum about 2 weeks ago had a similar problem. He finally found that he plugged the vac hose for the map sensor onto the wrong nipple.
