Help: How to remove rear bumper?

I unscrewed the top attachments under the tails and took out the reflectors... What else is there?

Thanks

but be careful, you don't wanna rip out your rear bumper...remember that's the bumper that everyone will see the most.

There are also 2 or 3 ten mm nuts inside each quarter panel (driver/pass side). You get at them by popping the back hatch and basically climbing inside, reaching down with your arm to feel for them. 1/4 inch drive ratchet with u-joint helps, as well as a stubby wrench and a gear ratchet. On the driver's side, you'll have to unbolt the abs ecu. It's not bad once you know how to do it, but the bumper won't come off until you remove all those suckers.

Just took mine off for the first time the other day.

Remove the reverse lights.

Remove the brake lights (all 3)

Remove the 6 or 8 star-point screws

Remove strut tower bar

Remove all plastic trim in the rear. you'll have to pop out the trim panels in front of the bins as well to get access to the 2 or 3 body panel pins on each side down low near where the strut towers are.

Underneath the car on each side of the bumper behind the rear tire there is a single 12 or 14mm nut to remove

Inside the trunk under the plastic cladding you removed there are 2 long 10mm nuts to remove on each side.

Below those nuts there are 2 plastic clips to remove on each side. Just squeeze the top and bottom of the clip while wiggling the bumper and they'll disengage.

All in all a huge PITA, removing all the interior panels. Give yourself 2 or 3 hours and try not to break too many fasteners.

I took mine off the other week for repair. Those lugs on the inside of the bumper are the biggest PITA.

If you remove the ABS computer and the power antenna, you can reach right in there with a 1/8" drive and they come right off. I didn't even want to try to get to them with that stuff still in the way.
