There are good instructions here:

http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/efini.htm

I am not sure what studs you are talking about, but you need to remove the rear and front of the y-pipe pieces together. They can then be pulled apart.

Once you have the "U" shaped pipe (rear), and the front intake pipe off, the two nuts on top are the only thing holding it in place. After removing the two top nuts, the top should come off, unless it is "glued" in place.

The bottom section just bolts right up, and should come off fairly easily. Nothing tricky there.

I know what you're talking about. Basically get 2 nuts and jam them together. You do this to remove the studs. Otherwise you'll have a bitchin time trying to get the Y pipe over the studs.

to remove the pipe there should be a total of like 6 nuts. 2 of them to remove the cross over and 4 (2 per turbo) nuts. I think you can take that intake pipe off the rear turbo to get more room. The process should be relatively easy...

I don't understand this. When each pair of bolts is removed from the primary and secondary turbo outlets, the y-pipe will just lift up. The studs do not get in the way of anything and do not have to be removed.

I agree. Those sound like downpipe instructions. The studs do not need to be removed.

OK..

YOU need to remove 2 nuts from the y pipe to the crossover

then move secondary turbo intake tube that's attatched to the secondary turbo. Usually its tough if you have stock pre-cat (2 nuts).

Then you need to remove 2 nuts that holds the tube with CRV to the secondary turbo and 2 nuts that holds the efini-y to the primary turbo.

Then the whole thing will come off.

I do understand what POS7 is talking about.. You could remove the studs where y pipe and primary attatches. Which will let the y pipe to just slide out without removing anyother nuts. But removing those two studs aren't easy.

If you need pics, I have these parts all disassembled.

I can't believe a thread on this subject has gotten this long. Maybe we should sticky it.

That sounds odd. The lower section should come right out. What is the lower section hitting when you try to slide it off?

You should take the 2 bolts from the back section off too.

"Slide the piece out" - are you trying to separate the halves of the y-pipe with the rear section still in the car? If so, don't. You'll likely cut the o-ring between them, and reassembly will even harder. Remove the upward-facing nuts holding the front half to the turbos and the do the same for the rear half. To access the rear half, you'll need to remove the rear turbo inlet pipe (the curvy aluminum one) - which is held to the back of the secondary by 2 10mm nuts that are reached easily from below the car. Now lift both halves out together, and reassemble in the same way.

Dave

I was thinking the same thing. It's not hard to do this. The only reason I can even imagine that would make it difficult is if someone has tampered with the studs and gotten them crossthreaded for some reason and they are sitting at an improper angle. You may have to see-saw the pipe up until you can clear the studs.

Not trying to be a ***** here, but if it's any harder than that and you can't figure it out, you may want to consider taking to a shop and let them do it.

If you do get the Y-pipe out and the two halves get seperated, you need to replace the O-ring in the middle, otherwise you could have a potential air leak.

Joe

The o-ring can be reused if it looks ok. Just lube it with a touch of motor oil. The problem is that trying to remove only half usually gets it pinched and cut.

You probably didn't remove the two nuts on the rear turbo, all four have to come off and you have to lift and trist the two pipes together to remove it.
