Help with Fuel Tank

My fuel tank on my 1996 RHD Efini is leaking. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction or let me know which fuel tanks are compatible with that model. Are the RHD tanks compatible with LHD etc etc. Thanks in advance!

All tanks are interchangeable, the only difference was internal baffling. No difference between RHD/LHD. The only one still available from Mazda was the '96+. Though, they too may me NLA these days.

For reference, '96+ cars were not available LHD, and my '94 LHD has a '96+ tank installed. No issues.

It may be worth the effort and money to repair the leak. Have you identified where its coming from?

Yeah, it’s directly on the seam, so the chances of repairing are a no go. Thank you though! I found a hookup on one. Pretty pricey but gotta do what I gotta do!

@Brian854 there are a few part outs in the forum's marketplace. @tomsn16 probably has one.

Is the tank actually out of the car?

The seam, short of driving on salted roads continuously, would be an extremely unusual place to see a failure....and when you to try to cut it off you can understand why. Any inspection panel gasket failure or hose leak will have fuel running along the seam.

When I had my Harley tank restored and a bung welded the repairer used red cote to seal afterwards. It's been perfect. There are other sealers around too, I don't know what a replacement tank is worth. If it's only a pin or crack this may be your solution
