Question HELP! (experienced Members) Just rebuilt: Car wont Start all the way

I HAVE SEARCHED ON THIS TOPIc!

I put it all back together, I went to go start it and it won’t start up. It cranks over, gets fuel to both chambers, Looks like all sensors are pluged in and functioning. It is getting spark. The plug wires are correctly routed. TPS is plugged in.

The only thing I can think of is that I swapped the primary injector harnesses. How it sounds when I crank it over is like this: it starts to crank over and it really wants to start but it won’t catch. It fires about 2 times a second for like 8 seconds, stops firing for a few seconds and then it starts to fire again and still wont catch.

I have plenty of voltage to start and it is cranking @ about 250 to 275 RPM with the starter and it starts to spin to +/-320RPM when it is partially firing.

Anybody have any ideas or has anybody hooked up the injector harnesses backward before and experienced this problem too???

Also, is the wiring diagram for the injectors the same from a 94' to a 93' (I am trying to verify color of the correct wires) and all I have is the 94" wiring diagram???

THANKS

New motors are sometimes a bitch to start even with everything hooked up working well. They want to flood easily, compression isn't 100%.

Definitely double-check the primary injector wiring, and pull the ECU codes to see if anything's coming up.

I Have a PFC too. We tried to shorten the cranking injector pulse width in the Settings -> water temp menu THis didnt seam to help. I did take the plugs out after like 20 Min. of tring differnt thinks and cranking it over a crap load and the plugs were a bit wet but not dripping.

Anybody know for sure what the color of the injector wires are for the primary and secondary wires?

the 94' wiring manual displays this:

Secondary Rear: Light Green | Black with Yellow stripe

Secondary Front: Light Green w/ White stripe | Black with Yellow stripe

Primary Rear: Light Green w/ Black Stripe | Black with Yellow stripe

Primary Front: Light Green w / Red Stripe | Black with Yellow stripe

Can anybody confirm this for a 93' I cant imagine that mazda would change the harness from 93' to 94'?

Flooded?

The more I think about it , the more I am thinking that it might be flooded. I just wouldnt think that a flooded engine would be so close to starting when you crank it. I always have experienced no firing at all with flooded engines.

Anybody care to put their 2cents in?

My motors have always fired right up after jumpstarting the battery.

Try squirting some ATF into the nipples on the passenger side of the UIM. Will help build compression.

It was just flooded. She fired right up last night. Now I have more problems. I obly get 4 to 5 in. or Vac @ 1100RPM. not sure if its the big ports, a Vac. leak, or the combination of the two. I will take off the UIM tonight to see what the issue is.

4 to 5 is not a good sign especially at the rpm...even with HUGE ports. who built the engine?

good luck

I rebuilt the engine. I think i have a rather large vacuum leak somewhere that is effecting the low Vac. reading.
