Exclamation HELP! on coilover install

I started trying to install my ground control coilover kit with the GAB Super R shocks and filed down the weld like maxcooper's site tells you to and removing the cadmium plate, but the damn collars will simply NOT slide onto the shock body.

wasup with this???

i dont see on any other install where people had to either bore out the collar(which i could do - it is done about 1/4" of the way in and THAT part slides on, but not any further) or filing down more on the shock body which i dont want to do b/c i am scared of going down too far or ruining the integrity of the shock body.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

call 214-673-7720
if you have any advice/help to give

thanks,

you should actually be able to slide the collars in place without even filing down the weld. it just takes a little persuasion with a rubber mallet

what springs are you using??

i ordered 550 front and 450 rear both in 6" from rishie, but got 500 front and 375 rear

and how do you like the ride with whichever rates you got and what settings are you using?

well if you want 550/450, i am ready to trade it to you for your 500/350, i feel that this setup would be better for me.

tell me if you want to do a trade.

by the way, when i installed it on my koni, it fit perfect. maybe you need the right collar.

puma

edit: if i want softer springs by the way, it is because in quebec canada, we have a hard winter with lots of snow and cold, so the road are really and i mean REALLY bad. Actually, i think i have seen somewhere that we have the worst road in america.

I really feel like my suspension is more of track setup than a bumpy road like we have hear.

oops, you posted to fast, check my edit.

the setting is great with my koni, it is hard as a rock but bad for the road here.

I drove a little in ontario canada and it immediatly felt better, i started feeling my back again

oh and i have now put my shock to the softer setting so it feels comfortable. But the suspension feels kind of weird with hard springs and soft shocks, so i would prefer softer spring and raise my shock a little.

I am so far, very pleased with my coil-overs, they are SO easy to adjust.

one thing is sure, it is made to go there, i am driving my car so...

i might actually still pick yours up if rishie wont take back my springs.

actually i guess i just need him to refund me for the collars and i could trade springs with you.

ground control only had 500/6" AND 400/7" in stock , but i wanted 550, 450 so maybe if i think it is a little too soft i could just swap them out.

let me think about it........ill get back to you
just jack up the car and check the numbers....
