help, clutch chatter

i need help, every time i push in my clutch, it chatters, it seems to be able to grab and everything but it makes a chattering noise, thats all that seems to have happened. The engine is running fine and I can shift thru all the gears ok. has this happened to anyone? the chatter comes after about a second or two after i push the clutch in. any suggestions are welcome.

thank you

P.S. I have not touched my clutch system, it just started tonight after i came home and was parking it.

i can only hear it. well today i restarted my car and drove it for a bit and it stopped chattering when i push the clutch in. the chatter comes back when i shift gears though. what could this be. please help!

it also sounds like a rattle like bolts rattling in a metal can. the gears seem to good and the clutch still grabs. what could this be?

your clutch is beginning to go bad. I don't know the details wether it is throw out bearings, etc. But, mine did that to with 50k on orginal clutch. at 60 I had to put a new one in, as it started to slip in 5th.

what does the throwout bearing do? do you think it would be wise to shoot a can of brake cleaner in to the inspection plate part of the clutch? could it hurt?

I wouldn;t, I think it is pretty normal. I started a similar thread a year or so ago. Many people had same problem. I wouldn;t worry until your clutch starts to go. then put in acts SS with 10lb flywheel or something.
