Help! Car is dying when put in park!
I have a bad starter solenoid,so i have to jump it with a screw driver over the solenoid. But this morning i jumped it and the idle whent to about 1300,for about a minute, then idle jumped to 3000,so i give it gas to bring it down, and when i do that it comes down then shoots back up,with alittle back fire from the exhaust,i do this for three times, and still won't come down,so i put it in reverse,it comes down, and stays, but as soon i put in park the engine dies.So i started it back up and get it going,i get to work, put in park,it dies.It did this again.Any Ideas.

This is an automatic tranny, right?
So it sounds to me like your inhibitor switch is acting up.
The transmission inhibitor switch is what defeats the starter from operating if the car is not in Park or Neutral.
If it gets shorted out or fails completely it could be causing the problems you indicate.
Do you still have the wire connected to the "s" terminal of the starter?
