Question Help on buying a 3rd Gen!

Ok, so I'm a newbie and I have been DYING to get my hands on a 3rd Gen RX-7 and are now kinda in the position to purchase one, but I need some advice on the price! Here is the car:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1860514864

Along with the info on ebay I've been talking to him and he will include 2 x-tra sets of rims and the stock exhaust system. He told me the paint and engine work alone cost 9K. I'd just like some help deciding what your guys think it's worth! The reserve is 19,500, but hopefully it won't go that high. What do you think would be a reasonable offer?!?!? Any help would be appreciated! Thank-x!

I saw that one also, but the only downfall to it, is that it is an automatic, which you might be fine with. I have been looking at getting an FD as well, but still need to conjour up some extra money. It doesn't have as many miles as most FD's for sale do, which is nice. You can see that he has done some good work to it, and it is very clean looking. If the auction tends to stay low, then I would work off of that. The only thing you need to do, is don't rush into anything, as much as it hurts to wait, its better in the long run, cause you don't want to end up with something that you might regret. Good luck with your purchase if you decide too.

It's an auto and has a salvage title. It is also running three I/E mods so I would make sure it is not overboosting and it may be why it has a new engine. Personally, I would walk away from this car.

ughh

1) it's an auto

2) it's a salvage title

3) those wheels are horrible, and the fronts are badly undersized

4) he has three airflow mods with no boost control or ecu upgrade, this could be the cause of the new motor

5) did I mention the auto?

6) did I mention the salvage title?

I would have that car gone over with a fine-toothed comb and even if nothing was wrong, I wouldn't pay more than 10-12k. The salvage title and auto really kill the deal.

Have you thoroughly read through the "buying an rx-7" sticky at the top? Just checking.

Thats funny how he doesn't even mention the salvage title in the ad. I didn't notice it till you guys said something. I also thought it was pretty nice till I saw the auto shifter!

Don't buy that car. Way too much for auto. Salvage title? No way. Have you checked autotrader.com? That's where I found mine. Also try partstrader.com.

Go back to eBay, and take a look at the guy selling the '93 with something like 27k on it, original motor and everything, he's out of Nevada and is asking for something like $13k. It looks great too.
