HELP: AC condenser relocation problem

All,

I need some advice from someone who has moved their A/C system around. I am deep into a project now (read: half of engine bay contents removed) and I've just discovered that I am going to have to significantly relocate my AC condenser. This will involve rerouting some of the pressure lines, and to do this they will have to be disconnected.

I've read a bunch of posts on this subject so far on the forum. They seem to have one thing in common, which is that you shouldn't vent the system to atmosphere. Given the fact that the car can't be moved, what is the process I should go through to safely (and by safely I mean to myself first and the ozone layer second) remove the condenser lines? I don't want to spray myself with Freon and oil, and I'd like to avoid damaging the A/C system as well. It's my fault for not taking care of this beforehand, but I'm in too deep now and I'm looking for whatever options might still exist.

Also, if anyone knows of a Bay Area company that can do housecalls for A/C work, this might be an option for me too. As a side note, I'd like to retain as much of the R12 system so that it can be recharged for as little cost as possible.

So, how do you go about this? Unscrew the little window/plug on top of the drier? Or just unscrew the lines? I have no idea where to start. Anyone out there that can advise me would be greatly appreciated. You can respond to this thread or PM me. Thanks in advance,

-ch
