Help with 12x80mm bolt ID
Hi,
I have a 94 FD. It has been mostly disassembled as of late and most of the chassis is back together.
A list of what was done:
Shock/spring replacement- completed/torqued
Rear trailing arm bushings - ""
Diff mount bushings - ""
Banzai diff brace - ""
Power steering removal-rack is still out by I have the 4 bolts for rack brackets at subframe labeled.
My current issue is that in my tray were these two 12x80mm bolts(17 head/nut) in the pic, and I don't see anything they fit or would fit.

I have roamed the partsfiche and searched the forums and found nothing for a bolt this size. If I search for 99796-1280 this comes up as a 323/mx6 bolt.
I have looked all over the car and see nothing missing or loose, particularly that would be held with a bolt this large. My engine is still out and my bumper/bumper cover are off, but again there's nowhere obvious this would go in either of those areas.
If you know where a bolt this large and long fits on an fd, please let me know.
It's possile someone shipped it with parts purchased here, and again it's longer than my diff carrier, trailing arm, or lower front shock bolts of the same size and thread, so I'm curious if it's mine.....
Thanks,
Will

Thanks,
The front lower shock bolt is the same size, but the bolt is longer than the ones in my tray:
The front uppers are all 4 in, and are actually smaller than these:

These are the same dia bolt as the rear trailing arm bolts, but the trailing arm bolts are slightly shorter:

I do think you are correct in that bolts this size are only used for heavy mountings like suspension, but when i look around the car and I know my diff bracket is torqued, I can;t see anywhere they would go, hence the mystery of why I have them.
I really don't want to find out the first time I roll out of my driveway after 3 months
Thanks!

I would have said suspension bolts too, but the only other possibility is that they are to bolt up the transmission to the rear iron or related to fastening the starter. I believe the alternator and air pump bolts are longer.

Thanks everyone, they must've come with a diff bracket I picked up here for bushing replacement. I've checked everything suggested(and the rest of the chassis) and all is buttoned up.
I did consider the trans/motor possibility, but I'm certain I put all that hardware in a bin and labeled with everything else that came off in my initial push.
I'll put them in a drawer now so I can stop obsessing about them laying in the tray
Josh - I need to post up some pics for the facebook page, my motor is back and things are happening now. I'm just not on the facebooks much so I don't think about it

We have another guy in Spartangburg that is working on a build right now too.
Here is his build thread on here.
