Hello, need advice in buying a Rx7
Hey guys, nice forum. Im looking for a sports car and I came across the Rx7. Found a 93 twin turbo in great shape with 80k miles for 13 thousand. I can probably get him down to 12 thousand. What are some of the things I should look for when buying? Thanks guys.

re:
You should definately be able to get him down to 11500 or 12, but there is always that one guy that may want to pay more because they just want an FD so bad.
Ask if the apex seals have been replaced, usually 3rd gen's blow them around 50 or 60K and then severe engine problems can result. Also, some FD's have been known to go up to 150,000 miles, and others have severe problems at 70 or 80K. Only pick it up if you have the money in case you need to rebuild.

Buy a 94, they came with better interior & exterior paint from the factory.
Buy one that's either blown, or all original with only the RIGHT mods done from the getgo.
Buy one with owners that knew what they were doing.
Buy one in which the owner has all past receipts.
Buy one that is compression test verified.
Buy one that run's great, 10-8-10 pattern...
Wow, hey...this sounds like my car...and it's for sale...

Of which I'm very surprised the interest has been as minimal as it's been. I guess everyone like's buying the wrong FD's :P

ASK if the car has ever over heated, how often does he do oil changes, i do mine every 1500 cause i lovveeeee my baby lol, go to pepboys and get one of those anttena magnets and use it to see if the car has been bondoed to death, that way if you run the magnet over the bondo parts it wont stick, when you get it make sure you do all the heat issue mods take care of them as soon as you can, downpipe, ast can, upgraded radiator ( mazdacomp radiator0 ) is beter it comes with fins so that the air will stop and not go around the radiator, im at 122,000 miles on OEM engine, and turbos still boost to 10psi so GOD bless have fun and be safe
